I was a college freshman terrified of the 'Freshman 15' curse who decided to do something about it--yet I had no idea about the sport of running, let alone shoes. I was running in some mediocre kicks that I found and developed excruciating shin pain. I decided that something needed to be done, starting with shoes, assuming that just a simple switch of shoe type would have barely any effect on the pain I was feeling, but I was desperate and figured it worth the try. I went to my local shoe store and was directed to these babies--and all I can say is WOW! My shin pain was GONE! A model with a perfect amount of support (I did have to get insoles, though, for I'm extraordinarily flat-footed), these shoes cradle and carry your foot for miles and miles, defying limits every step of the way! Ive been with these little guys for three years now with no plan on straying to another brand. I'm officially a Brooks girl for life thanks to this one shoe model!

I fully agree with the person that asked who is writing the five star reviews. Last years Brooks Ariel had the HydroFlow. That is gone. Now it is something called DNA which immediately reminded me of Asics. Once on, they felt like Asics too. They are KILLING my feet!!! I'm getting sharp pains shooting up through my heal, my arch is throbbing. I have to return these immediately and hunt for last years model. WHAT DID YOU DO, BROOKS???? WHY????

Comments about Ariel:
This is my 3rd pair. I have tried almost every running/crossfit shoe out there! A running store in my area recommended them to me because I have a very low arch and tend to roll my feet outward. I love them. They are my go to sneakers and my Keens Briggs are my go to Shoes for heavy walking! I am very active and enjoy almost every sport. I am so happy that I have shoes now for every situation!

Comments about Ariel:
I need maximum support but this is a very heavy and awkward shoe. I've worn nothing but Brooks since I began running but now that I require maximum support I may have to switch brands in the hopes of finding something less bulky.

Comments about Ariel:
I ordered my second pair of Brooks. My first pair lasted probably longer than I should have let them. I love them! They are very comfortable and I felt a lot better running in these than my old shoes. I overpronate quite a bit and I broke my ankle doing that in other shoes. I've been running in Brooks for over two years now and never had that happen again!

Comments about Ariel:
I love these shoes! I have nearly flat feet and extreme pronation, and I've been getting these same shoes for 9 years now, with great results. The shoes keep my knees, ankles, shins, and plantar fascia from hurting, which were all problems I had before trying these shoes. My only complaint is the lack of colors available. Those of us with almost flat feet like to have fun exciting colors to choose from too!

Comments about Ariel:
Fit for me is great.
The back of the ankle collar is a little soft, and folds in when putting the shoe on. (Yes, I untie them.)
The best shoe for my foot, but it could come in more colors.

Comments about Ariel:
I got these this past weekend as I'm training for my first half marathon. I underpronate and have bad knees so I've been trying to find that perfect pair of shoes. After trying one many shoes these seemed to feel the best. I did a test run at the store and after I had some shin pain but figured it was due to the 6 other pairs I tried on attempting to get the best support. I put my new shoes on today to go with my normal 3-4 mile Monday morning run and forced myself to finish the first mile. My shins were on fire and my knees where killing me. I'm returning these and finding something different.

These were recommanded by my physician after foot surgery,
He also wears the men's version.
I traveled in several countries in Europe and feel I would not have been able too without this shoe.

Comments about Ariel:
These are my first pair of Brooks. I followed the shoe guidance on what's the right type of shoe for me, and my result was the Ariel. I have always owned Sauconys, but I have a horrible pronation problem, so I decided to give these a try. I run a lot, and this is the first time my feet have went numb. My toes go numb before I even hit my first mile! Yes, I do have the right size shoes, they fit great, but it has to be something with the soles. I have ran on a track, on a treadmill, I have even tried the elliptical, they go numb every time. I will not be purchasing these again.

Comments about Ariel:
I like them for the lightweight material, yet motion control sole. I've worn Brooks Addictions for the past 4 years, so these are taking a little getting used to. The only problem I have so far is they pull my socks down under my heal. They are much more attractive than the addiction walkers.
