I bought these shoes because I am 3 months into recovery for double bunion surgery. I need to have soft yet supportive gym shoes for everyday walking and I'm just starting to continue my walking-exercise routine. In my case, I have very flat feet (where I get stress fractures) and I'm a severe pronator. I put these shoes on yesterday for my very first treadmill speedwalk since my surgery and they are WONDERFUL. Fully supportive of my arch and pronation problems and also very, very comfortable in regards to my tender bunion areas. I have been wearing New Balance for years and these far exceed the level of control and comfort I need desperately to keep my feet from being sore and causing stress fractures. Also, they are true to size and my orthotics fit in beautifully underneath the sole of the shoes. Overall A+++++!!! HIGHLY refer these shoes for flat footers, stress fracture prone folks, severe pronators and bunionectomy patients. Thanks Brooks!!!

I have been wearing the Ariels for over 5 years. I typically go through two pairs per year. This year's model 2009 the sole had changed. I have taken mine back 4 times due to the soles coming apart. I've checked it against an older pair and noticed the sole changed considerably. Looks like the designer wanted to give the shoe a look for more traction, however the little nobs on the bottom of the shoe keeps tearing apart as well as the sides of the soles. Bad design, go back to the original or check your glue distributor. At [$] a pair, I expect the shoe not to fall apart every 3 months.

Comments about Ariel:
I wear these shoes every day, all day. This is probably my 10th pair in 5 years. They are the only shoes that accommodate my orthotics and heel lift in one shoe. My only wish is for a dark color version I could wear to church or those times when sneakers are less than appropriate. Don't ever take these off the market or I'm shoeless!

Comments about Ariel:
LOVE THESE !! My podiatrist recommended these (they were on her feet that day...) over 3 years ago. I am now on my third pair, do a LOT of walking and find they are more supportive (especially to my back) than a walking shoe. Just wondering, any tips on how to reduce the strong rubber smell when they are so brand new?

Comments about Ariel:
I thought I'd never be able to run again. These shoes are my salvation. They're supportive without being uncomfortable, and the insoles are substantial enough that I feel secure in wearing them without my orthotics. I wish I discovered Brooks running shoes sooner, because these are wonderful.

Comments about Ariel:
These shoes are AWESOME!!! I bought my first pair in 2001 and just bought a new pair. They fit my narrow foot beautifully and I buy a size larger than my normal size so I have room for my foot to expand when walking. I have tried other shoes but nothing compares; nothing! They last a long time and I walk around 15 miles a week. The wider toe bed gives my toes plenty of room.

Comments about Ariel:
The Brooks Ariel was recommended by my podiatrist, as I wear an orthodic. It cleared up my foot/knee problems very quickly. I have worn these shoes for probably 15 years now and love them. I walk/run 20 to 25 miles a week. I tried the Brooks Adrenaline once, just because of the color and there was no comparison to the Ariel. The only complaint I have is I wish they would change the colors a little more often. I usually end up with three pairs the same color before they get around to putting out a new color.

Comments about Ariel:
My podiatrist recommended these to wear with my orthodics, which have just been cast and will not be here for six weeks. I have plantar facetious and a heel bone spur. I decided not to wait, but bought a pair just two days ago. I was so stunned! I have never had a "good" pair of tennis shoes, and was blown away at how good my feet felt just standing in these shoes! I am virtually pain free in these. How can that be? I have already raved about these shoes to anyone who will listen to me. I definitely will be buying more pairs of these. Thank you so very much for a wonderful product.

My mom stands to cook and loves these shoes for their support - she wears them all day, everyday!
