I wear Adrenaline for a daily walking shoe on roads. But we are going to Glacier National Park this summer. Would the Cascadia be a good transition? And in the same size?

We currently do not offer any trail shoes with the same support for overpronation as the Adrenaline GTS 22, however, we determined that the elevated sidewall found in the Cascadia and Caldera series offer a similar level of support but was more specifically tailored to the unique terrain found on trails. This allows your foot to move naturally with the trail while still being supported during each stride. The Cascadia 16 will be a great option as a hiking shoe. We recommend sticking with the same size as you normally wear in the Adrenaline GTS.

How similar are these to Mazama?

Hi Carol! The Cascadia 16 is known as our "Mountain Trail" shoe, making it great for rugged and technical terrain with cushioning and a wider platform. The most comparable shoe in our current lineup to the Mazama is the Catamount 2, which is our current "Speed Trail" shoe.

What are the extra eyelet holes used for?

Hi Mary! The extra eyelets are available for different lacing techniques, such as the runner's knot. The runner's knot is a lacing technique that helps secure the heel. In a traditional runner's knot, you'll lace your shoes up without lacing them through the topmost eyelets. This is likely how the shoes were originally packaged. Then, instead of crisscrossing, you'll take the lace and, on the same side, insert the lace into the eyelet, going from the outside of the shoe to the inside of the shoe. This will create a little loop. Do that on both sides of the shoe. Then, when you go to tie the shoes, you'll cross the laces through those little loops and tighten the laces so the loops cinch around the laces. It helps to pull back on the laces as you tighten as opposed to pulling to the sides. You can adjust the tightness of this lacing as well to your liking.

I wear a size 7 in the Adrenaline 22’s, is this the size you recommend for these?

Hi Alice! We recommend sticking with a size 7 in the Cascadia 16 if that is what you wear in the Adrenaline GTS 22.

Hi what's your best selection for standing on your feet for 8 hrs ?

Hi Cheryl! One of our Cushion models would likely be the best option for long days on your feet. The Glycerin 20 could be a great option, or the Glycerin GTS 20 if you overpronate - your feet and/or ankles roll inward as you walk. How does this compare in sizing to glycerin 19? I'm usually an 8, but needed a 9 for that pair. Wondering if I need to get a 9 in these as well.

Hello! The Glycerin 19 was known to be running slightly short and snug and many people went up a half size from their normal size in that model. The Cascadia 16 is more true to size, so we recommend trying a size 8.5.

We do not recommend using a washer or dryer machine for cleaning our shoes, as they can be too aggressive and cause the shoes to stretch or warp compromising the materials and performance of the shoe. Once you're done washing, please allow them to air dry.

Does this have a lace box to hide the shoe laces once tied like the Cascadia 13?

Hi Sheile! The Cascadia 16 includes a Lace Keeper elastic band in the middle of the tongue to keep laces out of the way and in place.

I am running a Biathalon that will be a race through water obstacles, sand, and woods. So I need a shoe that will be able to run, swim, and climb?

Hi Anita! The Cascadia 16 may be a great option for you. The Cascadia 16 is able to handle running through different terrain and the outsole includes TrailTack rubber for added grip, which may be beneficial when climbing. The Cascadia 16 has drainage holes for water to leave the shoe, but it is not designed for swimming. How does the Cascadia line primarily differ from the Caldera line?

The Caldera 5 offers a higher stack height allowing for a max cushion with an energy return ride. Even though there is no Ballistic Rock Plate, this style is able to handle the Ultra trail.

I wear the Ghost 13. What difference would I notice the most with the Cascadia 16? I'm an older woman who walks, not hiking.

Hi Mary! The biggest difference between Ghost 13 and the Cascadia 16 are the trail design elements that a Road style would not include. The Cascadia 16 has our TrailTack rubber on the outsole and lugs for added grip and traction, and a Ballistic Rock Shield integrated in the midsole to provide protection and stability when walking or running on rocks or roots. If you are not walking on trail surfaces, a Road style like the Ghost 14 is a great option.
