some running/walking shoes have too much of a rock and can throw out my back. Which shoe would be better for me, Ghost 18 or Glycerin. Which one has more of a neutral gait?

Hey Ellen! I'd recommend the Ghost 18 for the most balanced, neutral gait option for you.

Are these good for bad heel pain called plantar fasciitis?

Hi Carrie. The Ghost 18 offers soft and balanced cushioning for daily use. Plantar fasciitis can be tricky to solve with a single shoe as it can be quite different from person to person. Please also keep in mind that we're not doctors and any serious pain or injuries should be discussed with medical professionals. We recommend visiting a local running shop and having your gait and feet analyzed by a Fit Expert. They'll be able to recommend options accordingly. Is this a good shoe for flat feet and over pronation? I have a bunion on my right foot that tells me when to buy new shoes it starts to hurt. I Had worn adrenaline 20 and addiction 1, great shoes. The addiction 2 I've worn are ok but to walk long distances on cement killed my hips, back and ankles recently. Ive worn Brooks for 25 years plus. I wear a 11 wide woman. Any suggestions?

Hi Betsy! Thanks for reaching out. I think you'd perform best in a shoe like the Ariel GTS 26! It is cushioned, but a little bit more supportive than the Adrenaline.

Were there changes made to the back of the heel and to the sizing? The 17s had a very stiff and unforgiving back, and sizing ran longer than their predecessors. I’m hoping for improvements so that I can back to wearing the Ghost.

Hi there, thanks for your question! The Ghost 18 updates include a soft and flexible flat knit tongue for comfort, a new engineered air mesh upper, and a new sockliner for soft step in. The overall sizing for the style should align with our other styles so we recommend trying the same size that worked well for your previously. The heel collar has also been adjusted and does not come up as high in the back of the shoe. We have a 90 day run happy promise in case you try the shoes and need to return for any reason.

Are the insoles removable so orthotics can be used?

Hi Gina, yes the factory insoles for the Ghost 18 are removable to accommodate orthotics.

Is the toe box as wide as the Ghost 13? I know many people who were disappointed when Brooks decreased the width of the toe box through current generations. We want the wider toe box back.

Hi Judith, thanks for reaching out! We expect for the overall fit experience of the Ghost 18 to be similar to previous versions of the Ghost, but the new flat knit tongue design offers soft and flexible comfort for the top of your foot. In case the fit doesn't meet the experience you are looking for, you might consider trying the wide width option that has more material in the upper and offers a more roomy fit experience. If you are open to a max cushion style, the Ghost Max 3 has a more linear fit in the toe box area as well which might feel more roomy.
