The Brooks GuideRails™ Technology System (GTS) is a running shoe support system that intends to reduce excess ankle and knee rotation, helping you stay in your natural motion path.
The GTS consists of two distinct foam components: a firmer section of foam on the inside of the heel, and a raised section of foam on the outside of the heels that provides structured support to guide movement. The foam piece on the inside of the heel reduces rolling of the foot inward, while the piece outside the heel is higher to limit outward movement of the heel.
For some runners, how their body moves on and off the run is in sync. Those who deviate from that baseline often need extra support. For example, for those who do deviate from their baseline, their stride might cause them to overpronate, stressing the knees and feet. The guidance provided by a Brooks GTS shoe can help restore a more natural stride, offer support while you move, and make a run feel a bit more comfortable. Not sure what type of runner you are? Try our Shoe Finder Quiz, which will help you learn more.
Central to the GuideRails™ support system is the relationship between the knee and ankle, or what we call “coupling.” Traditional support technologies focus on reducing foot eversion, whereas the GuideRails™ system focuses on both eversion and abduction/adduction in an effort to better support the right parts being in the right places during your run to prevent discomfort. GTS shoes are best for those whose running motion deviates from their own personal baseline, as they provide the guidance necessary for ideal movement.
Brooks shoes with “GTS” in the name have GuideRails™ technology. There are GTS variations for many of our most popular running shoes, including:

The Beast GTS is a men’s running shoe with support, a broad base, and durable cushioning.
Addiction GTS shoes combine support, cushioning, and a roomy fit that leaves space for orthotics.
