Additional Information

Pick a line, trust your shoes, and run absolutely wild. It’s as simple as that in the completely redesigned PureGrit 3 trail running shoe for men. Taking a cue from the mad grip of climbing shoes, this lightweight runner connects you to the terrain as it responds and protects you from its tricky elements. An outsole peppered with hex lugs delivers maximum grip, while a ballistic rock shield protects your foot from rocks and roots on the trail. A toe guard provides protection and added traction when the trail gets steep.

Just like our core line, we hold PureProject to the industry’s highest weartest and durability standards. Because of their lightweight construction and fewer materials, runners should generally expect shoes from the PureProject line to last approximately 250-300 miles.

I absolutely loved the original Pure Grits, actually went through three pairs. Was disappointed with the 2nd generation, too stiff. I had written a review for the 2nd generation and it seems Brooks followed through and then some! I wore these shoes right out of the box on a seven mile hike with portions at 26% grade. Comfortable, lightweight and great traction! I'm on my feet all day and work and was never able to wear running shoes until the originals and now again with the Pure Grit 3s....thanks Brooks!!!

I put probably 20-40 trail miles on a week, and this is a superb addition to my shoe rotation. I look forward to many fun runs in this shoe. The rocks are almost never felt with the rock plate, and the traction keeps you moving on the sharp angles. No issues what-so-ever with this shoe.

        Really Nice Trail Shoe

I've put about 100 miles on my pair so far on several trail surfaces and in both wet and dry conditions. Overall, I think it's a nice 'update' from the Grit 2. (It's a completely different shoe, so feels silly calling it an update.)

          Pros:
          1. Toe guard. Nice to have that little bit extra bit of protection.
          2. Tread is better than Grit 1 and 2 on soft trail. Much better.
          3. Rock shield on forefoot is a nice addition.
          4. Comfortable and cozy fit right out of the box.

          Cons:
          1. No wrap-around/burrito tongue like the 2 had (which was fantastic). Back to a free-floating tongue that just falls down to the outside of my foot.
          2. Still quite a bit heavier than the Grit 1 (but same weight as Grit 2).

          Overall:
Very good traction in soft and wet conditions. Toe guard and rock plate give added confidence that was missing in previous versions. I wish it was in the weight range of the Grit 1, but I still think it's a great lighter-weight alternative to the Cascadia.

I'm an avid Midwest trail runner with flat feet and the PureGrit 3 is a huge improvement over the first two. Great traction this time and the rock plate makes it a near perfect all around trail shoe. It's a neutral shoe but does seem to have some built in stability which I need. The DNA midsole seems to refuse to break down. The roomy toebox is comfortable but it could be a little more snug in the midfoot. After 2 weeks and a 100 miles, I have absolutely no urge to change the shoe and believe me, that is a huge compliment!

Great new sole design and rock plate. Great traction, and you feel the rocks less with the place. Fatter shoe laces that don't seem to cut across the foot as much as the PG 2. I miss the PG2 asymmetrical tongue. The "taco" tongue made for a much snugger or customized fit across the mid foot. After completing runs in the PG3 I find that the tongue has slide off the foot to the side. Also found that the volume of show around the mid foot is large and that each side of my laces almost come together which was not the case on my PG2 shoe. Love the show but the new sole and rock place with the "taco" tongue would have been the perfect change.
