Victory is sweet! In Runner's World magazine's Summer 2011 Running Shoe Guide, the Ravenna 2 was named Editor's Choice. In the June 2011 issue, Runner's World states, "Credit the shoe’s winning combination of a nimble, low-to-the-ground profile and ample cushioning for heel- and midfoot-strikers. Even more impressive is how Brooks now scales the flexibility of this shoe according to gender and size — making the smaller sizes less rigid in the forefoot than larger ones," adding that the fast feel belies the amount of corrective support it provides. "If you’re looking for a single shoe for both marathon training and racing, this is it."
The Ravenna 2 is perfectly tuned to the needs of mild overpronators, with just enough support and the addition of Brooks DNA to adapt to each step you take, for customized cushioning and energy return. The 3D adjustable arch saddle conforms to your foot for an ideal instep wrap and a caterpillar crash pad smoothes out the landing zone, moving your foot efficiently through the heel strike. Lace up and optimize your every stride.
A faithful Adrenaline GTS wearer in the office confessed that she has "been cheating with the Ravenna 2"… and she likes it.
> See the brand new Men’s Ravenna 3, now with a new last and an adjustable midfoot saddle for a close fit that provides just the right amount of support for mild pronation.

I run about 30 mile a week. I am by no means a hard core runner but I do more then just sit around. All of my running is on the city streets (sidewalks and roads). I got these shoes because they feel great on my arches and give me a little stabilty. I only pronate a little and don't need a major stability shoe. My last pair of shoes (Nike Triax) gave me way to much stability. They actually started to over correct my pronation. The Brooks are perfect though. I actually got these shoes about a month ago even thought they were not released until a few days ago. (I know someone at the shoe store.) I really feel like I had an edge over all of the other runners that had to wait for this shoe. The new DNA technology really works for me. I can notice it the most when I am running down hills and my feet are hitting harder. Over all its a great shoe. The only draw back is that I have probably put about 100 miles on them and the soles are starting to loose the tread. I will probably have to replace them at around 350 mile which is about 100 mile before most of the other shoes I have ran in. Honestly though, That is a small price to pay for the way these shoes feel and preform.

Me = Neutral midfoot striker - 5'9" - 160lbs - 40 miles/week - 52 years old. I worked my way into these shoes over a month of running, before adding a marathon distance training run to give them a real test. I had to get these shoes a half size up to get past their narrow width and rub from their toe box taper. I was impressed with their comfort, breathability, and light feel out of the box, but noticed that they felt totally set-up to put you back on your heels. Once on the road they only felt comfortable when I let them heel me into my foot strike, but I was curious to see if the DNA material break-in would move their strike point a little farther forward. I put about 60 miles on them, with only a couple of minor blister issues until I got them broken in. Then I tried them on a 22 miler. I woke up the next morning with my back locked up tighter than Dick's hat band. I have never had that happen before. It was painful and awful. I took several days off from training before my back finally adjusted enough to allow me to run again. I tried an uber easy 3 miler in these shoes and was soon locking up again out on the road. I began using 30 sec/30 sec run/walk intervals to get back home and was amazed to find that my back quieted down on each walk break, but then started to lock back up on each run segment. The next day I switched to a Brook Launch shoe in a half size up, with a set-up that works much better for a midfoot strike, and had no more back issues. I have since completed more training in the Launch, including a Half Marathon event, with no issues with my back. I can only gather that the set up in these Ravenna 2 shoes was the culprit. So be aware that unless you are a dedicated heel striker, you too may have some issues with these shoes unless your body takes to them and not just your feet. Also I was really surprised at how quickly their soles are already wearing down. I would guess that anything over 300 miles and the soles would be pretty bare in the high wear places.

Comments about Ravenna 2:
I have been running for two years regularly and have lost 85 pounds. During that time I have had three pairs of adrenaline's. After going to a local running store I was told that I did not pronate and to purchase a neutral shoe. I did and they were not Brooks which was my first mistake. Ended up with many pains I had never had before that I could not shake even after over 150 miles in the shoes. I looked at the reviews for the Revenna's online and they seemed like exactly what I needed. Ordered them and they are, I love them! They are fast yet supportive and not to heavy. I am running my first marathon in two weeks in the Revenna's and am looking forward to it. I will never purchase a different brand of shoes again because the slogan is true you do run happy in Brooks.

Comments about Ravenna 2:
This is my second pair of the Ravenna 2s. The first pair made it through 2 marathons and the training for both. Out of approximately 5 pairs of running shoes that have been fitted by specialty running stores, this has been my favorite and the reason for my purchase of pair #2 of the exact same shoe.

Comments about Ravenna 2:
I've had these shoes for a little over a week and have put roughly 35-40 miles on them. I'll have to say so far so good. The shoe feels responsive and most of all light. What I really like about these shoes are when you wear them they don't seem to "squeeze" your foot. Just slip these on and lace them up and you get a comfortable fit that allows plenty of circulation and airflow without feeling that constriction. Got these on sale at [$]. For my purposes they're great.

Best shoe that I have ever had. The model shouldn't be changed at all and should be continued as is.

Perfect shoe. They shouldn't have changed it with the Ravenna 3. Bought 4 pair because I may never find this good of a shoe again.

I road run wearing them 5x per week. I have plantar fascitis and am able to wear them with and without my orthotic, but mostly I run with it in. They feel supportive and cushiony, and my feet do not hurt.

Decided to run my first 5K this coming June. Wanted a supportive running shoe. Checked Runner's World for recommendations. This was recommended. For a first-time runner, this shoe provides all of what I was looking for at a very reasonable price.

Comments about Ravenna 2:
I bought the Ravenna 3s in February but did not like them--whatever you "perfected" in the latest model does not work for me. I really liked the original Ravenna, and the Ravenna 2s. The latest model probably has too much stability for me since I insert custom made orthotics that are supposed to already provide that. Found the original Ravennas on-line, and the Ravenna 2s, so bought myself four pair to last me for the running season. You should stick to a model and stop trying to perfect it all the time--no wonder runners eventually switch to different brands. And it would be great to make a women's model with the wider toe box but narrower in the arch and heel area--women's wide is just a men's regular, and that doesn't help us women with the "daintier" arches/heels.

Comments about Ravenna 2:
Just recently started running again. Haven't run since I was in high school, got these as a gift for valentines. Training for a half marathon end of the year and have to say these shoes are awesome. These are my first pair of brooks and so far they've been amazing. My daily mileage currently is somewhere between 2-4 miles daily and these have held up thus far. Great shoes, plan on getting something with a little more cushion though for the marathon, maybe the glycerine 9, but these are definitely light and comfortable.
