Free your feet and embrace the trail with the PureGrit. Working with ultramarathoner Scott Jurek, we developed a unique one-piece outsole that has a concave shape. When forces are applied, the piece splays out to provide a more balanced lay-down. A sleek grip lug pattern and wide base protect the feet but still allow the runner to get in touch with the ground. Top it off with an ultralight mesh and conforming foam upper for a fit that really hugs the foot.
Just like our core line, we hold PureProject to the industry’s highest weartest and durability standards. Because of their lightweight construction and fewer materials, runners should generally expect shoes from the PureProject line to last approximately 250-300 miles.

So far these have been treating me well both on trail and on pavement, they seem to have good traction on the trail, especially for such a low profile sole, even on the dusty steep stuff. The elastic arch band helps to provide a great snug fit through the midfoot without being too tight elsewhere in the shoe. You don't need to buy these a half size off or wear extra socks, they fit in the right places. My only criticism thus far is that the toe box seems slightly narrower than what I expect from Brooks shoes and isn't terrible but a little disappointing. Something to try out if you have a really wide forefoot or like that extra room to allow for a more natural step.

This was sold as a trail shoe but I live in the rocky mountains and the trails are not paved! They are very rocky sloppy gnarly and this shoe was not able to match up with the terrain. So if you are running on pavement or a few wood chips they might be okay.

Only negative is that they are too narrow. My toes fell asleep the first use or two but did eventually stretch out a bit.

I love this shoe. My last shoe was the Green Silence and I really liked those. I waited for this one to come out because Scott Jurek is my idol. He and the Brooks team did a really nice job with this shoe. I just used it for a 10k and they were wonderful. Very little time to break in. Very comfortable, no problems with blisters. I try for more of a minimalist shoe, but because I do a lot of road running, those tend to leave my feet sore. The PureGrit is a perfect combination. Just enough cushion for the road but still very minimalist and light. It has a wider toe box than the other PureProject shoes. I will definitely be keeping mine for a long time.

Ran a 50 mile race in these right out of the box and was very pleased. Feet were in great shape and they offered enough protection from the roots and few rocks on the course. In the very technical sections (<1 mile) I found they did not offer enough protection for me (a heavier runner). These were VERY rocky sections, very technical and I like a beefier shoe for this.

I wanted these to work, even sized up 1/2 size to try to fit but after a short 4 mile trail run, my feet were in PAIN. These are VERY narrow in the mid and forefoot. The heel fits nicely...too bad they are so narrow.

This is my second pair of these! I absolutely love them! I train in them on trails & roads. As a PT, I wear them while working with clients, teaching classes, etc., and at the end of the day, my feet feel wonderful! I wear orthotics and they fit like a glove. True to size, warms hugs for my feet. Love this Pure Project line. Thanks BROOKS for another GREAT shoe!!!

I love this shoe for running on trails. The more technical the better. It is lightweight and breathes well. It drains really well after a creek crossing so no squishing down the trail. My only issue is that I had to go up 1/2 size from my normal running shoe size, because the toe box was to tight on my little toe- the length was fine however. Unfortunately for me this means an 11 1/2 (womens), which I can only get online from the Brooks site. No-one else carries this size. Also tried a comparable size in the mens, but it was too large in the forefoot. I will be buying another pair.

I am returning the shoes becauses they didn't fit...at least 1 size too small. I understand, though, this is a risk you take when ordering on line. In the past, I have been 100% satisfied with the shoes that were recommended to me by the quiz you offer. I'm sure this will be the same - in time!
