I am an avid runner and have been for 10 years now, I have many miles and races including marathons under my belt and have had many shoes on my feet, I have used and abused brooks running shoes from the start. The Ghost 3 is on the top of my list as far as shoes are concerned hands down. Ive put some serious miles on them now and they have held up their end beautifully through rain, snow and some pretty warm days in south Georgia. They are durable comfortable and have just the right amount of cushioning. They are great for 26.2 mi. and for 3.1 mi. A great shoe all the way around. I personally will be owning a second pair and third and fourth as long as they are available. Thank you Brooks for always supplying excellence in the world of running. And for all that are dissatisfied with this shoe, don't bash the shoe or the Brooks name, just take the time to get fitted properly for the correct shoe for yourself. Run Happy Everyone!

The Defyance 2 was the best running shoe I have ever owned. It was my first time with brooks, and I happily bought a second pair. Since the 2 doesn't exist anymore, and after reading the reviews slamming the Defyance 3, I decided to move to this shoe as the suggested replacement. Not even close.
All of the niggling aches and pains I used to get from hard training came back after my first run in these shoes. The cushioning is not that great. Nor is the responsiveness. I don't know why this shoe is recommended for runners with high arches and some under pronation. (I have both.) It feels like I bought a $40 shoe for $100+.
I thought I had found my lifetime brand of shoe in Brooks, but I guess you just got lucky with one model. Please add my comment to the ones on the Defyance 3 shoe asking why you had to mess up a good thing.
If the 2 comes back, I'll give Brooks another try.

Comments about Ghost 3:
These are my second and third pairs. I am am approaching 300 miles on my first pair that I put in service on 1-20-12. I will be buying more as I have plans for a full marathon in the fall after doing 3 halfs this spring. A great testament for these shoes is they are durable. I was about 234 lbs when I got back to running in Jan. I am now around 218 and the shoes are holding up very well as they approach 300 miles. I also absolutely love the design and color combination. You guys hit a home run with this shoe.

Comments about Ghost 3:
The Brooks Ghost shoe line is the best line of running shoes that I have personally ever purchased. As an avid runner, I used to regularly get a different pair of running shoes every time, but I am now on my 5th pair of Brooks Ghost and I am 100% satisfied with them. I am a neutral runner and spend a lot of time on the balls of my feet when I am running. I am also a semi-professional soccer player so my training consists of both distance runs and sprints. The Ghost provides me the comfort and stability that I need and allow me to easily meet all of my training demands. Best neutral running shoes on the market, bar none!

Comments about Ghost 3:
I am a diabetic and I run every day for exercise. Because of my diabetes, I need a shoe that fits well and doesn't cause my toe nails to hammer the inside of the shoe. Since these are a soft cloth at the toes, I don't have that problem. Also, I am an under pronator, so I often wear out the outside of my heal before the rest of the shoe sole. The Ghost 3 helps correct the under pronation. Great shoe, all around!

Comments about Ghost 3:
Just received my 4th pair of the Ghost 3. Best show I've ever owned. Normally suffer from joint pain and shin splints, switched to the Ghost 3 and haven't had any pain. Comfortable on long runs, good cushioning. I wish they didn't discontinue this model, paranoid that the Ghost 4 won't be as good as the Ghost 3.
