I use these for trail running and long hikes with my dog after my run. From the moment I put these on at the store, I knew there was something different about these. Truly neutral shoes. They don't try to be anything else. I was always looking for supportive shoes because that's what I thought I needed. I tried on all the top running sneakers I usually buy. The person at the store suggested these. I am glad he did. Not only are they waterproof(I had them in deep puddles completely soaked and stayed perfectly dry), but they are great sneakers for walking and running, as well. After a month of use, I can see the tread holding up much better than sneakers I've had in the past and they are still super-comfortable. They're so well constructed that it's subtle. So subtle you can almost miss it. They don't wow you by feeling like slippers when you first put them on. They are however, impressive in terms of support. This is because they are truly a neutral shoe. So they just give a nice even support in the base and the upper allows your foot to rest naturally. In this sense, they feel supportive and natural at the same time. Anyone considering a neutral or somewhat supportive shoe, I urge to give these a try. This company knows how to make a shoe. Finally, a $100+ sneaker that is built like a $100+ sneaker. Very cool. The only reason I call them near-perfect is because I guess a shoe can't be expected to fit everyone's foot. However, speaking as someone who has long worn supportive shoes, I would recommend these to everyone, not only those who seek neutral shoes. Hope this helped.

I wrote a review under Sonnet2ix, recently. You can read it to get an idea of what I thought of the shoes. Everything I said about these sneakers still remains true, except: THEY ARE NOT TRULY WATERPROOF.
I learned my lesson writing a review too quickly. I had been out in puddles and rain and they were fine. But then I went out on a misty morning, no rain at all, just morning dew. I ran for about forty-five minutes with my dog. The grass was moist. No puddles, no water above the ankle.
I felt my feet getting cold. I thought, they can't be wet, I've run in puddles with these sneakers. Not so. My feet were soaked when I got home. I examined the inside to see if there were any seams torn or anything. Everything showed to be just like new. Remember, these shoes were only four weeks old. I called Brooks a week ago and told them what happened. The person with whom I spoke, told me this was very odd(obviously), and that he was shipping me out a new pair right away, and that he would email me a shipping label to return the defective pair. He even said to let them dry before returning them so they're not mildewy when their returns team is looking at them. Over a week later I call back to ask where my shoes and shipping label are, and they tell me there's no record of my call. Then after discussing the defective shoe with this person, he tells me that although they are called waterproof, they are not waterproof. ??? I was confused, too. He began to explain extreme use and water higher than the ankle. I repeated that there was no rain and that the grass I was running in did not go over the second lace on the shoe. He said, ok, I'm just letting you know that at some point, the shoes are going to allow water to get in. So after a half hour of running through moist grass? I was really disappointed with his take on this. He just assumed it was my using the shoe in a particular way, and not that this is just a huge problem with the shoe. He said, the shoes are breathable so they're not going to be waterproof. Clearly, they're too breathable if they're letting mist into the shoe. He offered a replacement, so they do stand behind their product. I can't take that away from them. But I thought I finally found a company who cared about feedback like this, and problems with their products, but between the call that "never happened," and the guy who says something is waterproof, but isn't waterproof, I will just go back to my other trail running shoes. On a twenty mile trail, staying dry is actually more important than perfect comfort. Comfortable shoe - Not Waterproof. Go back to the drawing board on this one, Brooks.

Comments about Ghost GTX:
Love running these instead of my regular Ghost 4s when it's nasty out. Keeps my feet. Warm, dry, and happy! The Ghost series is the most superior line of running shoes I have had the pleasure to run in. And I've ran quite a few miles in other brands

Comments about Ghost GTX:
The Brooks Shoe Advisor recommended the Ghost 4 for my everyday walking use. I purchased the Ghost 4 GTX because of the Gore-Tex™. In the morning when I walk my two four-legged friends (dogs), Lexi and Buddy, I noticed how my feet are dry and protected from the morning dew. I have used the shoe as a back-up for running in wet conditions, I must say that the shoes not only keeps my feet dry, but also perform well. I do notice that my feet are sort of on the warm side and wondered if the case is the water-proof Gore-Tex™ material. Perhaps the Gore-Tex™ may not breathe as well as typical running material. I would recommend these shoes to anyone especially as a backup for runners that may experience wet conditions.

Comments about Ghost GTX:
i would run in these mainly or wet weather exploring. I like the way they look. They are first off a 1/2 size too big. They also are advertised as a neutral shoe; I am a major supinator so when I put shoes that have pronation control on it hurts! These shoes had the dull feeling of support on the inside of the heels. I think this might be why people are complaining about lack of cushoning. I may have to return them becuase of this.....not sure if I would reccomend

Comments about Ghost GTX:
I love that they can be worn in wet weather and keep my feet dry. That is a huge plus - Gore Tex is great! I was disappointed in the cushioning, particularly in the heal. If I wear them all day, my heal will ache. If you are looking for a decent shoe with Gore Tex that can be worn in most conditions and situations, then I would recommend this shoe. I would not wear these to run in.

Comments about Ghost GTX:
This is a very good shoe. I wear a 12.5 US in the regular Brooks Ghost 4 and was hoping these fit the same. I ordered them and the fit is perfect. Brooks tend to run smaller than other shoes so if you have a chance, try on Brooks shoes somewhere before you order. I purchased these for wet conditions. I use these for running, interval training, workouts at the gym, walking to the store when it's wet out, and will eventually retire these to grass cutting duty sometime down the road and purchase another pair for replacement. Because they are water proof, no more soggy socks or wet feet while at work or play. Some people say that they are too heavy???? Are you kidding? Too heavy for what? They are a light shoe. I used to wear the North Face Gore Tex GTX which are "heavy" and had bought 2 pair over the last year, but they always hurt my feet and shins after prolonged use. I am happy to say that I have switched to the Ghost GTX as they seem to fit the bill. I hope they don't change the sizing or support in years to come.

Comments about Ghost GTX:
After 6 months in the Ghost 4, I was excited when the Ghost GTX came out. So I bought a pair for running in the rain and winter conditions. However, I am extremely disappointed in just about everything in this shoe. First is the lack of padding in the tongue area, second is the how stiff the shoe feels, reagrevated a old leg injury, have not had this issue since I switched to only running in Brooks shoes.
