I have been with Brooks for nearly 10 years and will continue to be. Defyance 5 has some improvement over 4 but the size 10 is now too large and 9 1/2 is too small. Good I still have 5 more pairs of Defyance 4.

This shoe is a little more stiff than I thought it would be. That in concert with my orthotics make it a pretty rough ride.

I just got back in to running after many years and was fittted for this shoe, all I can say is what a great shoe. I have been able to do more and have nothing but positives about the Brooks shoes. I wore a different companies shoes for years. Now only Brooks, ordered a second pair to have as the shoe is the best.

This shoe feals good until you run. The outsole feels hard underfoot. I am very light on my feet, yet every stride the shoe says "whop, whop, whop" every time it hits the ground. In addition, the outsole has too much shape built into it. the shoe doesn't rock through a stride well at all. the forefoot does have spring, but the heel has an overly pronounced slant on the crash pad. Im sorry Brooks, I love you guys but this shoe sucks. Brooks has changed their shoes so much this year, they just arnt the same. This shoe is nothing like the defyance 4 which was so comfortable.

Great light weight shoe with good fit for a narrow foot. Most narrow shoes I have tried are still too wide for my foot type and these fit very well!

After running for two years and losing some weight I have been looking for a neutral Brooks shoe that was less clunky than the Gylcerine. I also wanted a shoe with a little less cushioning that allowed me to feel the road better. I tried the Ghost 4, but in a "D" width they were too narrow and a "EE" too wide, and the heel to toe tranition felt funny to me; although the cushoning was perfect. After a few runs in the new Defyance 5 I think I have found the shoe I have been after as it fits my foot perfect, has the right amount of cushioning, and has a smooth transition.
