I have extremely flat feet and had been looking for a good shoe ever since Brooks changed the design of the Trance. Trance 7 & 8 were great for my flat feet and provided enough stability to keep my ankles from rolling in too much.
But when Brooks changed the design with the Trance 9 increasing the arch height, that shoe became a non-option.
I had been searching for a good flat foot shoe that was well cushioned and light weight weight for a long time.
The cushioning seems to be more prevalent in the midfoot to toe, so these may be better suited to runners that are mid to toe strikers.
While the shoe does not give tons of stability support, they should be sufficient for runners that do not over pronate too much.
I have a tendency to over pronate myself, but I have not yet noticed any ankle pain or knee pain as a result of inadequate stability support.
For runners that want a well cushioned shoe that works for low to flat arch feet, these may be what you've been looking for in a running shoe.

I run about 30 to 40 miles per week, I usually train in two pairs of shoes alternating them between runs. I have owned the Ravenna 2's and found them to be a great shoe. I loved every minute in them. I am a taller guy 6'2" and they made me feel lighter and more in control. They had a very snug fit that was still comfortable, they wrapped your foot and with the toe up design gave you a longer stride, without feeling too tight or unstable. Here are the differences with the new Ravenna 3, and listen close, because I know of what I speak. 1. The toe box is bigger, if you liked the snug feel all over your foot, you will not like this shoe. It will feel loose in the front. 2. The mid foot or saddle control is totally different and while it does the same thing, I kept over tightening it trying to get the toe box more snug. 3. On longer runs of say 10 miles plus, the shoes starts to feel a bit rubbery almost like there is a bit too much cushion and the heat makes it react in a weird way. 4. The flatter design of the bottom of the shoe makes you feel slower if you are not a professional runner with a perfect stride. One of my favorite parts of the Ravenna 2 was the way the toe went up improving and lengthening my stride. I just fest fast. I am not a small person, but the shoe make me feel nimble. I do not get this at all with this shoe. It's much more like the Trance with a little additional guidance. It has lost it's identity in the 3. Mine are going back and I am buying two more pairs of the Ravenna 2's for [$] per from the clearance section of brooks.

Too much cushion in the 3's. Feels like the Asics Kayano to me. Went and ordered another pair of Ravenna 2's before they're gone. Please don't change a good thing Brooks! Loved the 2's, their were fast and light, springy and just right. Did need a half size bigger. I am just not happy with the 3's as I thought I would be.

I just tried on a pair at a local Road Runner store in CA, looking for the next replacement shoe for my Ravenna 2's in which I've run about 300 miles. I thought the 3 would be better, but it feels like a completely different shoe. The elastic shoestring eyelet is gone (I loved this feature in the 2s) and the mid-to-toe transition really drives your toe into the ground with much less cushion than in the previous model. It almost feels as though the trend to get runners doing less heel-to-toe running in favor of the more mid to front-foot striking advocated by minimalist runners may have had the Ravenna designers thinking that a more dramatic transition would be better. But for me it feels unstable and sort of like my foot is falling off a small cliff every step. Odd and disappointing to say the least, and now I'm off to find a good high mileage trainer to pair with my Pure Cadence shoes.
