Sustainability reaches daunting new heights in the new Cascadia 6. Virtually every component has an environmentally friendly back story to wow any eco-crusader. Handle unpredictable terrain with ease and savor the sights and sanctuary of nature, knowing you have a hand (and foot) in its preservation. No greenwashing here – meaningful environmental progress goes hand in hand with off-road performance in the best trail shoe out there.
We added our adaptable Brooks DNA cushioning to the heel and forefoot of the Cascadia, creating customized comfort and a shoe that adapts to different surfaces. In addition, we made sure the midfoot saddle is our most conformable and adjustable, offering an unsurpassed glove-like fit to almost any foot, and further perfecting the locked-in feel for ultra-stability. Then we added a medial forefoot pivot post with four points of contact – providing 4x4-like suspension in a much more sustainable way. Oh, and we added all that while making the shoe nearly an ounce lighter. Sweet!
The Cascadia 7 is now available, with four-point pivot posts that act like a suspension system for your feet.

I don't normally write reviews, but for this product I had to. After reading some of the other reviews yesterday, I didn't think this was the shoe for me. I am an avid mountain/trail runner (40+ miles/week and I don't mean the run-through-the-local-park "trail" runner) and have been dealing with calf pain for about 4 months. I have a high arches, therefore I need support, but don't want a lot of weight. I have been wearing Asics, Adidas, and Nike for the last 4 years. But it seems like I am only successful finding supportive shoes that either weigh a TON, or a lightweight shoe with no support. I found these shoes today in a local store (Montana) and I must admit: I wasn't wild about the lime green and blue! =) But boy, were they comfortable! An hour later I was on the trail. I pre-raced a run I do every year, a 14k that tops out around 7,500'. It is every terrain imaginable including mud, snow, creeks, dry dirt, (even borderline slippery pavement with some wet granite) steep up hill and steep down hill. THESE SHOES DID GREAT! They performed VERY well with no arch or calf pain. And while I wasn't crazy about the colors, the two guys I ran with were jealous that their shoes weren't "as cool." I believe I am hooked on Brooks! Thank you for a wonderful trail shoe! Happy running!

I am a neutral shoe person with average arches. I was ecstatic to find a womens trail shoe like this in a size 12. I loved the cushion of the shoe and the colors. The problem came with the forefoot area. With every step forward the hard plastic sides of the shoe pressed into the side of my foot. The shoe was wide enough. I had lots of room on the side of my pinky toe, however, my foot seemed to hang over the foot bed as though I were an over pronatior! I have never had this happen with ANY other brooks shoe or other shoe brand. It felt like I was stepping on a rock but I was actually stepping off the foot bed! Maybe these will work for you but they did not work for me I sent them back--very disappointed!!

I have worn a lot of different trail shoes recently and found these sneakers
incredibly lightweight, comfortable and easy to wear for long distances. They were quite breathable for summer running.

Comments about Cascadia 6:
This is a great shoe for trail running. If you need a minimalist shoe, this is not for you. It has great cushioning for people with foot issues like myself. I removed the footpad and replaced it with my orthotics.

These shoes are great on gravel roads, trails, and even in the snow. The fun color combo will have people looking twice. Compliments the Brooks Night Life line.

Comments about Cascadia 6:
Cascadia's are the only trail shoe I will wear. They are also amazing in the snow! Comfortable, durable, and stable but seem a little heavier or bulkier than I remember my last pair.

Comments about Cascadia 6:
I am amazed at the difference these shoes made when running a trail race. I ran a trail race in my regular running shoes last fall, but got a pair of cascadias for Christmas, so I tried those out for a race this winter. Big difference. The shoes really grip on dirt, leaves, etc. Also, the hard plastic in the front of the shoe is great if you are the kind of runner (like I am) who likes to occasionally slam a toe into a rock. These shoes are also lightweight enough to wear everyday - so I think if I could only have one pair of running shoes - this would be it.

Comments about Cascadia 6:
I went to a specialty running shoe to get my next trail running shoes. And this is the shoe I was "fitted" with. Very comfy when walking around the store. And they did fine when I was at the gym trying them out & they seemed OK. But when I started running outdoors, my arch started to hurt & then heel pain & my toes tingled. Same thing on my next run. So I bought some arch supports to put in the shoe & that didn't help. I returned them & was fitted with a different brand shoe. The sales associate thought possibly the pivot post was causing my problem. I did try on another Brooks model & they were fine, but the other trail shoe was just a bit more comfortable.

Comments about Cascadia 6:
I liked the shoe and spent a great deal of time researching the right neutral trail shoe. I got into trail running and was using my Asics road shoes without any problem, yet I wanted a trail specific shoe for single track etc. I wore them in as I do every other shoe. Each time I wore the shoe, my right calf was sore. I have now had to have massage on my right calf each and every time I wore it, thinking maybe the next time, it will get better. It is very sad to spend [$] and have to say after 6 weeks of off and on trail running, that I will no longer wear these shoes. I had high hopes. I also talked to others who had this shoe and they too had some issues with their posterior calves.

Comments about Cascadia 6:
I am disappointed, after loving previous (2-4) versions of the cascadia, these are a let down. There is little traction, the shoes feel like you slip and slide inside of them, especially on the downhill. The heel was narrowed, leaving poor stability on trail. They pick up a lot of mud and stick to snow, mud and loose dirt like glue. Ideally, I would recommend them for perfectly dry, non cambered trails in SoCal, or maybe just pavement without water or ice.

Comments about Cascadia 6:
I have been wearing the Brooks Cascadia for three years now. My first pair were the Cascadia 5's and they were great! I had to replace them after a year of very Rocky Arizona trail running. Since I was so happy with the first pair, I purchased the Cascadia 6 since I thought the color was fun and crazy! But I had to size up a half size to a 10 when I am normally a 9 to 9.5 depending on the shoe to allow clearance of my toes from the end of the shoe. I am currently training for a 50mile Ultra marathon (trails) and have nothing but problems with my feet due to the shoes. There was not sufficient support under the metatarsals due to the new segmented rock plate they put in. I had to put a metatarsal pad in the one shoe since the sole compressed more than even the other shoe. Also, the lack of flexibility keeps the foot very stiff so for doing long distance running, this is not the shoe. If you're doing under an hour of running you might not notice a difference, but I would not recommend this new model for any significant distance running on trails.
