Nia Akins

A 2020 graduate from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, 800m runner Nia Akins finished as the runner-up at two NCAA Championships, most recently at the 2019 outdoor national championships. Before her senior season was derailed by the COVID-19 pandemic, she ran a PR of 2:00.71 and nearly broke the indoor collegiate record.

Lightning round

  • I started with cross country in high school. My teammates would always say "If you like this, you'll LOVE track". And that was true. I switched from soccer to track and never looked back.

  • Playing Bananagrams. More specifically, incorporating Zs, Q, Vs, and Us into words.

  • Life-long friends? New adventures? Character building? All of the above!
