"Best Training Trail Shoe" Minor design flaws.

Still the most comfortable training trail shoe out there. Durable, with great traction. The toe box is snug, but roomy enough for compression flexing and swelling on long runs. Still the most comfortable training trail shoe out there. Durable, with great traction. The toe box is snug, but roomy enough for compression flexing and swelling on long runs. Not great on concrete or pavement, but shine in the dirt. Minimal foot fatigue. Couple minor issues: As in their previous model, this shoe has a tendency to release the heel on lateral sloping, causing your ankle to feel like its going to "taco". This issue is completely solved by using a "runner's tie" on the laces. Unfortunately the laces that come with the shoe are too short to accomplish a decent runner's tie. You'll need 54" or 56" laces. Another minor flaw is the flat laces with the slotted eyelets. The eyelets tend to lock the laces. This causes the laces to lock in place, failing to adjust tension evenly during the run. Get yourself some 54" round laces, perform a "runner's tie" and you'll have one of the best trail shoes on the planet. For Brooks, if your going to use slits, instead of round holes for the eyelets, don't slant the eyelets! It causes the laces to lock, especially with flat laces. Read More

Very satisfied, would be perfect if shoe was made wider

Pretty much happy with performance of shoe, while running or walking feels like I'm floating, which is what I expected, if this certain sho not made a bit wider, please make it!

Good traction and cushioning

Nice improvement over original Caldera, but I miss the pace you could tuck your laces into.

Great all around shoe

These are my favorite trail shoe. The toe box is generous, they are fairly light, and the cushioning is superb. I purchased these a half a size down from my Ghost 11's and have a thumbs width at the toe. Took them out on a rough rocky trail and thought for sure they were going to show some damage as they have some exposed foam and more delicate looking tread but they showed no wear. I would love…

I would love a road version of this shoe. Read More
