great shoe

fantastic shoe right out of the box. only took 4 miles and got a nice break in feel. goretex membrane keeps you nice and dry with a sense of security from any water of mucky stuff. Would like to see other colorways. Only complaint is they make a good bit of noise when they are new and stiff but after the materials loosed all clacking in the toe box went away. So far really great trail shoes!

Like having new feet!

Very solid construction. Dr suggested Brooks for stability and comfort, and he was right. Very impressed.

Like a comfy all-terrain tire for your foot!

This is the most comfortable pair of running shoes I have ever owned. The gore-tex keeps my feet warm and dry, but doesn't overheat. The grip is soft and fantastic. Brooks are awesome!

Good overall but could have been great

I bought these shoes for Fall/Winter/Spring running in Minnesota where getting wet feet can ruin your day. I am a big fan of the non-waterproof Cascadia 11s I have been using, so it seemed like a no-brainer to get the Cascadia 13 GTX. Overall, it has been a great shoe. My feet stay dry and comfortable during runs in the rain and snow. The traction has been good on loose and packed snow. Pairing these shoes with nanospikes has worked out well when things get icy. When I first got them, one shoe seemed to have the rock plate bent up toward my foot which led to an uncomfortable hot spot just behind the ball of my foot. Bending the shoe the opposite way seems to have fixed that. My main gripe is the lack of padding in the tongue, which has led to uncomfortable pressure against the front on my ankle. Different lacing patterns and pads have helped mitigate this, but even with those measures, I can't lace up my shoes as tight as I would like without having discomfort. The resulting loose fit has led to some bruised toes, especially when wearing traction devices when running on ice, since the spikes grip the ground and my foot slides forward. Extra tongue padding (similar to my old Cascadias or my current Ghosts) would make this an excellent shoe. Read More
