Coach Staub was recognized in his community for his unwavering support to the next generation of runners even when he was facing his own personal health challenges. From one of the nominators, “He still showed up to meets and supported us throughout it. He came back for summer training and was able to run with our team even. The leukemia came back again in 2022 half way through my freshman cross country season. Once again, he showed up to our meets and even wrote us notecards before conference, districts, and state. His cancer inspired our team, and we were motivated to do well for him.” Through it all, coach Staub has fostered a strong team culture, leading to increased participation and individual and team successes. His love for running and his inspiring story have positively impacted the entire community and has been felt by many. His firm commitment to his athletes is just one of the many reasons she was selected as the Inspiring Coach of the Year for Cross Country.
