Good light-weight trail shoe

This is the Ghost version of Brooks trail runners, with the Cascadia being like the Glycerin. Fit is very similar to the Ghost, wider in the toes, so it feels roomier overall. Good grip in heel cup, so if you have extra room in the toes, you can lace up with a marathoner's loop & still feel secure, even on descents. The sole is very pliable without rock plate, but still has good cushioning. I…

If you want a well-cushioned shoe are are willing to forego the rock plate, then order the Caldera, but may want to go down 1/2 size from Glycerin, or order your Ghost size & it should be very similar in fit & feel. Amazing shoe!!

I love this shoe! I had tried on a few sizes in the store, but they didn't have my exact size so I ordered it online. It came 1 day before I was leaving for Albuquerque and Denver for vacation where I was going to be doing A LOT of hiking. I did mainly get it for trail running as I'd like to start doing more of that, but figured I'd take it hiking since I'd be doing some road running too while…

I love this shoe! I had tried on a few sizes in the store, but they didn't have my exact size so I ordered it online. It came 1 day before I was leaving for Albuquerque and Denver for vacation where I was going to be doing A LOT of hiking. I did mainly get it for trail running as I'd like to start doing more of that, but figured I'd take it hiking since I'd be doing some road running too while on vacation. First day wearing the shoes, I went on a 15 mile hike up the Sandia Mountains. I had ZERO issues. The shoe was so comfortable, there was no breaking in period. No blisters, no rubbing, nothing! I was amazed, though not surprised. I've never had any breaking in period for the Glycerin's that I've been wearing for 5+ years. I continued to wear the shoe for numerous other shorter (3-5 mile) hikes up/down the mountains without any issues. I also wore them in a 5K road race and they were great. Super supportive and felt good the whole time. I'm excited to be back home and looking forward to taking them out on the trails now that the weather is finally nice. Highly recommend!! Read More

Toe box too narrow, heel nice width

ONLY the TOE box is too narrow. I wish Brooks would give more options on the width because I love their heel width on B width shoes - but their toe box has gotten way too narrow. I would hate it if they misinterpret the review of too narrow and make the whole shoe wider - then the heel will slip giving blisters. They need to be wider in the toe area so your toes do not get squeezed as you run - everyone's feet expand a little on impact and these do Not accommodate that. This is critical so that you do not lose a toe nail, or damage one which can result in an unhealthy toe nail which is more prone to fungal infections. I also Love that the toe area is not so curved up, as is the case for so many shoes these days. My foot doctor said shoes that curl up too much in the toe area are bad for my toes since they are never in a neutral straight / flat position. If you have narrow toes this shoe will work for you, which is the reason why I choose I would recommend to a friend. Read More

Solid Trail Shoe

I found this shoe to be very comfortable. I have a wider foot, and the wider toe box is perfect. Some trail shoes are not super comfortable on pavement; I found the Caldera to be more comfortable than many I've worn. These shoes are great for hard and soft dirt, and somewhat technical trails. I would not recommend them for muddy and rainy conditions-I had a lot of issues with their grip.…
