Are any Brooks sneakers recommended for tennis/pickleball?

Hi Gwenn! As a running company, all our shoes are designed and tested with forward motion in mind. Activities that involve lateral movements, like tennis or pickleball, are not something our shoes are built for and the life expectancy of the shoe (300-500 miles) is likely to decrease.

With that being said, for people that still choose to use our shoes for more of these lateral movement activities, we tend to recommend a lower-profile, neutral style such as the Launch, Revel, or Levitate. We like to recommend neutral styles for these activities since additional support elements in the shoes can get in the way when used for more functional (especially lateral) movements.

Would this be a good shoe for high school cross country where they typically run on grass surfaces?

Hi Sarah! The Hyperion Tempo is a great lightweight shoe that can be used for training and races, though the outsole is built for road running. You can certainly run on grass in the Hyperion Tempo, but it may feel slippery when the terrain is wet.

I usually wear adrenaline Brooks to run 4 miles and cross train! Are these similar?

Hi Maria! The Adrenaline GTS is a Support style that includes our GuideRails technology, whereas The Hyperion Tempo is a Neutral style that does not include this support technology. The Hyperion Tempo aligns with an even to a supinated gait cycle. If you're looking for a more responsive experience than the Adrenaline GTS and that includes GuideRails, we recommend the Launch GTS 8 or the Levitate GTS 5.

Hi, if I am a dude, and I like a specific color way for the ladies, can I size-up the standard 1 and half size and buy, or are the women sizes narrower than the gents? (I am a 9.5 in men's size)

Hi Ronnie! That is correct, we recommend going up 1.5 size from your Men's size. If you are a size 9.5 in Men's style, we recommend a size 11 in the Women's style.

Hi Leah! The Ravenna was one of our Support styles, while the Hyperion Tempo is a Neutral style. The Hyperion Tempo provides more energy return in every step, compared to the responsiveness of the Ravenna. If you're looking for a responsive style with support, we recommend the Launch GTS 8.

Can you machine wash them?

Hi Eydie! We do not recommend machine washing the Hyperion Tempo as they can be too aggressive and cause the shoes to stretch or warp, compromising the materials and performance of the shoe. To clean your shoes, remove the internal liner and hand wash the shoes in warm water with mild soap. Make sure not to submerge or soak the shoes in water. Once you are done washing the shoes, stuff your shoes with newsprint (plain if you have it) and allow them to air dry.

Currently I own the Ghost 12. I can’t decide between the Ghost 13 or Hyperion Tempo.

Hi Kristina! The Hyperion Tempo will give you an extra pep in your step as midsole is very responsive. Think of responsive as a spring, as you run, the shoe gives you energy return or bounce back as you stride through. Rotating between the Ghost 13 and the Hyperion Tempo is a great idea, as these 2 styles have the same support, but will give you a difference experience in cushion. Choosing one over the other is up to you.

I normally wear Glycerin’s, are these similar?

The Tempo is exactly as described: "Run hard. Recover hard. This women's running shoe is a light and responsive trainer that's designed to keep you in your stride so you can run harder, longer." With a 8mm midsole drop it is not as forgiving as the Glycerin. This shoe makes you work. It's fast, efficient, and definitely keeps you in stride. But it's not for everybody. Those with high arches may find it too demanding for long runs, but it's a game-changer if you want to take it to the next level and maintain a specific pace for longer distances. If you are looking to just cruise on your easy runs than stick with the Glycerins. But if you want to turn it up a notch jump into these rockets and I guarantee you a faster pace will greet you with every step. Run Happy!

Currently training for my 4th half marathon, with plans to continue on from that to my first marathon. Need new trainers, desperately. Are these a good choice for training, or intended to just be for speed work/racing?

They are very light. If you like light sneaker to train than these are for you. If not, I wouldn’t recommend. In my opinion, I love them but don’t find them supportive enough for training.

I have a pretty low arch and I think the Tempo is definitely on the lower side for arch height! I have about 30 miles on my pair so far and haven't had any trouble. Hope that helps.
