Loving the long miles in these

Dear Brooks, you've got an amazing shoe here, please don't go and change it up too much. It works very well just the way it is! I'm 5'11 170 lbs an ultra-runner and very knowledgeable when it comes to shoes. A bit obsessive even. This shoe has such a wonderful balance of cushion and responsiveness. A plush landing with a nice toe off. I love the cushion to weight ratio, (this trail shoe is a…

I love the cushion to weight ratio, (this trail shoe is a good bit lighter than most of my road shoes.) I'm in love with DNA cushioning. IMO it's hands down the best. This shoe fits my foot like a glove. I bought my regular size 12, it fits perfect. I do prefer to wear thin socks with these as the toe box isn't super wide, but I also consider my forefoot to be a little wider than most and it's fine for me. The heel fit is so spot on! Midfoot fit, arch height and lockdown are also spot on. The lugs are deep enough to get the job done in most situations while keeping the shoe very light. I'm more of a function over fashion guy, so the one color option is fine for me. Tongue is comfortable, could maybe add a little more cushion in there for bombing down hills. Very durable, especially in this weight category. The lace garage is very useful. The only suggestions I have would be that the upper could use a "little" better breathability, possibly a little bigger drainage ports. Maybe open up the width on the toe box just a smidge, (on the big toe side only.) I dislike when shoes taper in on the inside, it often results in my "straight" big toe being uncomfortably forced inward toward the center of the foot, rather than being able to remain straight. Think footshape. Also, it is a little "tippy". I roll outward a little more often than i do in other trail shoes. Is it because the bottom is slightly tapered from side to side? Would changing this design take away from the superb cushioned landing...maybe. If so, then please just leave it as is because this shoe is pretty darn incredible Read More

I love these shoes!

These shoes provide me with great support on my daily walks/lite hiking. They also add a splash of color to my otherwise drab outfits that make them fun to wear.

Michigan Polar Vortex

Michigan winter running. Training for a full marathon this Spring. We have had nothing but snow and Icy conditions sine the first of the year. I have run every long Saturday training run in these. This past weekend I ran 16 miles in them. I try to keep on the sides of the roads as much as possible but they do just fine on clear pavement. LOVE them so far, I have over 120 miles in them with no…

This past weekend I ran 16 miles in them. I try to keep on the sides of the roads as much as possible but they do just fine on clear pavement. LOVE them so far, I have over 120 miles in them with no issues at all. Highly recommend these trail shoes. The slight waterproofing around the edges have kept me dry so far. Can't wait for spring to take them on to the trails in south west Michigan. Read More

Buy this shoe (or at least give it a try)

Use: 1k-50k trail runs. Size: Road shoes are 12.5, went up .5 of a size for trail purposes and it's perfect. Pros: SUPER light weight. Comfortable design. Integrated tongue (no side slipping). Fast drying (crossing puddles to knee-deep creeks). "Lace garage" is very functional and keeps laces from bobbing around. Great traction on muddy wet surfaces. Fits well. Stable (lateral & vertical).…

Fast drying (crossing puddles to knee-deep creeks). "Lace garage" is very functional and keeps laces from bobbing around. Great traction on muddy wet surfaces. Fits well. Stable (lateral & vertical). Roomy toe box. Great cushioning (this shoe does not have a rock plate, and I have not noticed its absence in a negative way). Flexible sole. No blisters (so far). Well ventilated (no hot zones). Color option (if blue is your color). Two gaiter attachment points. Cons: Price (However, I think it is worth it). The traction works very well in the mud, but the mud can clump to the bottom of the shoe pretty quickly if the right consistency (all the mud came off quickly while running by either transitioning to a dry surface or a few simple heel clicks). Flat laces (I prefer round laces). "Lace garage" goes against visual sleek design. Color option (if blue isn't your color). History: Previously ran in Cascadia's. Tried these to go to a lighter weight, and more flexible shoe. No regrets, Cascadia's are still awesome shoes, but I will probably stick to those for hiking. Caldera 3 are my new go-to trail shoe. Give them a try! Read More

I finnaly found my shoe

Wore these on two short 6 mile runs then took tham and ran a very wet and muddy trail 50k on the coast with these. Love this shoe. I used to wear brooks for road running. Wore these on two short 6 mile runs then took tham and ran a very wet and muddy trail 50k on the coast with these. Love this shoe. I used to wear brooks for road running. Since getting into trail running I have tried the other popular brands in the trail running shoe scene. I have circled back to brooks and this is now my go to shoe. Works amazingly well as a road to trail shoe. Love the lace garage and gaitor attachments. Shoe breaths amazingly well. Due to this, they do allow water in the tounge lace area. Wear with gaitors if it is raining. Due to the venting they drain water very well, but they do get wet inside. I wore these with toe socks in wet conditions and had GREAT results. The lugs are not as aggressive as other shoes. This is what makes them an amazing road to trail shoe. On the flip side, i would like to see a caldera model with slightly deeper lugs for muddy vert trails. I was ice skating at times when others were not. This was in extreme mud though. I love the new upper and i feel it is comfier and a huge improvment over the V2. I will continue to use this shoe on my trail runs in the sierras and future 50k's. GREAT SHOE BROOKS!!!!! Read More

2 Questions

What is that little black strap over the midfoot? Any changes to the midsole in terms of flexibility?

2019/01/02 Vermont Chris

The strap is a lace garage that keeps your laces secure and out of the way. The flexibility will be the same.

Are there any other colors available then Green and when will it be available?

2018/12/25 Grand Rapids, MI Vishal

There will be more colors avalble in June 2019.
