A "goldilocks" shoe

I'm a 40-something guy who has run off and on all my life. I run pretty slowly, because I enjoy it and avoid injury. I'm a 40-something guy who has run off and on all my life. I run pretty slowly, because I enjoy it and avoid injury. I ran in overpronation-style shoes in my 20s and 30s, but having examined my treadwear patterns and had good luck running in the Cascadia, I decided to try the"neutral" Revel. I've only had the shoes a month, but my impressions are positive. The shoe is soft and comfortable without feeling too cushy or marshmallow-y. The toebox is fairly wide and flexible, which suits me well. The overall fit is glove-like and there are no hot spots. I run on a mix of gravel roads, dirt trails, and pavement. Though the Revel is not a trail shoe, it handles all these surfaces well. It clearly does not have a toe bumper or rock plate, but I don't miss these features. I do not have a problem running on gravel roads--the gravel does not telegraph through the midsole. I do expect that the less aggressive tread will be a little slippery in the right conditions--or wrong conditions. I do find the shoe to ride very "neutral." I do not miss my overpronation shoes. No matter what gait or footstrike style I try in the Revels, I find that they track easily, naturally, and quietly. They are neither overbuilt nor flimsy, though I do worry about treadwear life. I also do think that if I ran exclusively on pavement, I would want a tad more cushioning--in which case I suppose the Ghost is the obvious choice. Happy running! Read More

Happy with my Purchase

Been ordering Ghosts for a few years and thought I would give the Revel a try. Very pleased with my purchase so far. Very comfortable, good support. I do a lot of trail walking which tends to chew up the shoes fairly quickly so we'll see how long these last but so far so good.

Hi, im a mild pronator. Will the Brooks revel be a good shoe for me to run in?

2017/11/11 FL cristian

Hi Cristian! The Revel is a neutral shoe, but based off this information I think you be fine in the Revel! Brooks Running

I have been purchasing brooks Cascadians for many years. I love this shoes for trail running. I usually purchase road shoes from North Face or Salomon. My running friends are recommending Brooks road shoes such as the Revel or Launch. Before I make the transition, I would like to know if your design team is going to add different colors to the midsole of the different neutral road shoes such as the Launch, Revel, and Hyperion. Is there a reason why most of your shoe's midsole is white? I tried your brooks tokyo launch 4 at a local running shop but the white midsole reminded me of the New balance 665, New Balance 928v3, Hook and Loop 813. Thank you for your time, MT
