Inside Brooks
Until we all run on equal ground
We believe the run has the potential to be the most inclusive sport in the world. But there’s work to be done.
We are focused on making our business — which also happens to be our passion — more equitable by ensuring our workplace, our runners, and our outreach reflect the running communities we hope to see in the world.
Pillars of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Workplace
The people inside our building need to represent the people outside our building. We are balancing this representation by proactively hiring diverse candidates, creating equitable opportunities, and promoting an inclusive workplace.

Runners
We are dedicated to creating a welcoming environment for all backgrounds, perspectives, abilities, and identities on the run and in the running community. Our goal is to bring people from all walks of life into the run.

Community
Running is a team sport, even if you run alone. We support the local communities where we live and work, like the Seattle Pride Parade and Special Olympics.

Where the rubber meets the road
Meaningful progress toward true diversity, equity, and inclusion starts by looking inward to understand what each of us — and all of us – can be doing better. Here are some of the ways we’re working to make a difference.

Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index
Based on our 2019 policy changes, Brooks received the score 100 out of 100 from the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index (CEI). But this is just the beginning of our journey, and we will continue to improve our inclusivity practices as the CEI benchmark evolves.

Brooks Booster Club
We are proud to support high school running teams through cash and product donations. The Brooks Booster Club is a needs-based program that provides performance running footwear, apparel, and funding to under-represented cross country and track teams.

Greater Seattle Business Alliance Membership
We are members of Washington state's LGBTQ+ and allied chamber of commerce, which represents over 1,300 small business, corporate, and nonprofit members. GSBA advocates for civil rights, promotes LGBTQ+ tourism through Travel Out Seattle, and invests in the next generation of leaders through the GSBA Scholarship Fund.

Global Running Day & The Equal Justice Initiative
In 2020, Brooks leveraged Global Running Day to bring attention to the injustices faced by Black Americans. We directed our efforts and the power of our community toward the Equal Justice Initiative and donated $250,000 to help protect the human rights of the most vulnerable people in America.

Frontrunners LGBTQ+ Running Club
We celebrate all who run and all who love, which is why we partner with Frontrunners, a running club that promotes inclusivity and the LGBTQ+ community. Brooks provides grants to the Seattle, Portland, Atlanta, San Francisco, and West Palm Beach Frontrunners chapters.

Outdoor Industry CEO Diversity Pledge
In 2020, Brooks CEO Jim Weber pledged to better represent people of color in the outdoor industry. The Pledge connects industry leaders with inclusion advocates to diversify representation in hiring, leadership, media, sponsorship, and ambassadors.

Camber Outdoor’s CEO Outdoor Equity Pledge
In 2019, Brooks signed Camber Outdoor’s CEO Outdoor Equity Pledge. This CEO-driven pledge solidifies our commitment to advance equity, inclusion, and diversity at an industry level in collaboration with other likeminded, active-outdoor companies.

Women at Brooks Mentor Program
Brooks supports and facilitates formal mentorships to help retain and grow employees. The Women at Brooks Mentor Program provides opportunities for women to connect, inspire each other, and reach their full potential. Since its launch in 2018, more than 43 mentee-mentor pairs have participated in this program.

Gear Donations
When possible, we try to amplify the causes and efforts of organizations and people who align with our purpose and need a leg up to inspire others along the way. Through our Run B’Cause Grants Program, Employee Donations, and Soles4Souls donations, we’ve donated over $11 million in-kind product and gear to charities in 2019.
