Great shoe, but dirt gets inside too easily

They are stiffer than I expected, but comfortable. I just wish that dirt didn't get inside the shoes so easily.

Best trail runner / hiking shoe ever

I have owned several pair of Cascadias. I originally bought them for a mix of trail and street running, which is my regular workout routine in my neighborhood. I bought the GTX version for a hiking trip in the northeast. I hiked 70+ miles and several 4000 foot mountains in them, with a variety of trail conditions. I bought the GTX version for a hiking trip in the northeast. I hiked 70+ miles and several 4000 foot mountains in them, with a variety of trail conditions. I scrambled up and down rocks, sloshed through boggy/muddy trails, walked over miles of tree roots and rocks and these shoes offered the perfect blend of flexion and grip to keep me steady and strong throughout. Who needs a hiking boot when you can have these far more versatile shoes? They are definitely my go-to for outdoor hiking & trail running. Read More

bought this model for wife because it was available with GTX

need some professional input: • my experience indicates running shoes should be sized larger than size measured by foot sizing device. seems as though it is hard to have problems with shoe too large, even up to 2-3 sizes larger. minimum of 1 size necessary. do you have any guidance on this issue? • weak area of running shoe design to me is execution of laces. before Glycerins i ran in…

need some professional input: • my experience indicates running shoes should be sized larger than size measured by foot sizing device. seems as though it is hard to have problems with shoe too large, even up to 2-3 sizes larger. minimum of 1 size necessary. do you have any guidance on this issue? • weak area of running shoe design to me is execution of laces. before Glycerins i ran in NB990's. the laces were plain cotton flat laces and were WAY too long. no matter how tight i tied them they might come untied in the middle of a run. elastic elliptical X-section laces in Glycerins are perfect. right length and NEVER come untied. laces in Hyperions are WAY too long but work out perfectly with double bow. wouldn't want them shorter. but laces in wife's Cascadias are characteristically too long and i can't get a hysterically uncooperative wife to double tie them. IMHO you should provide laces for standard weight running shoes exactly like the ones in the Glycerins: not too long, single tie, elastic, not flat. biggest objection i have to laces in Glycerins is they seriously compromise sex appeal of otherwise BEAUTIFUL shoes. wouldn't look so rough if wife would only double tie them but she won't. In sum, what kind of thought do you guys put into selection of laces for your shoes? do you vary lace selection within same model line to accomodate difference in sizes from smallest to largest. best i can tell a major reason to select Brooks over NB is NB is SO clueless about laces they put into their shoes. but you guys could still make serious improvements. don't understand how designers can put so much thought and technology into a shoe design and COMPLETELY blow lace selection. Didn't work out for me

Purchased these as I have been looking for a gore tex running shoe. I have been trail running in a shoe with only 4mm drop prior to trying these, and the drop on the Cascadia was too much for me. Felt also like there was very minimal support at the forefoot area, and traction was very poor with lots of slipping on the trail. I will keep these however for snowshoe running in the winter.

Hello! Can this be used on Obstacle course races (OCR) where there is mud, water etc... Thank you!

2017/05/03 San Juan Puerto Rico Cris

Yes, it can be used. Fully submerging the shoe in water or mud will not keep your feet dry.
