Exactly what it's described to be, and not for me

This is a slim racing flat, with a little support for overpronaters and a slightly wider footbed (in my opinion). I wanted to try it out because I couldn't find it in a local running shop. Turns out slim racing flats are not for me. I usually run Adrnaline, and this shoe felt very similar as far as support, minus all the cushion. Felt good for someone who wants support and thinline, but I just…

Big downgrade from the Racer ST

Before the Racer ST was discontinued I ran in that shoe for 10+ years. As many on here have said, that was a phenomenal shoe and the Asteria does not improve on any of its qualities except weight. It is less durable, less comfortable, more expensive and offers less stability than its predecessor only to save an ounce or two. I ran competitively in college and the ST Racer could handle…

I ran competitively in college and the ST Racer could handle everything from 20 mile long runs to 400m repeats on the track. I will say that the Asteria is just as good at "going fast" for shorter, faster work, It definitely does not feel as good as the ST did on longer runs. Being a more recreational runner these days, I would trade that ounce of weight saving for the much more comfortable and stable ST Racer. If we pretend the Racer ST never existed, this is a Pretty Good shoe. Unfortunately since it is supposed to be a direct replacement for an older shoe, it has to be compared to the previous version. Great speed shoe

I used this shoe almost every day for track workouts. I did try it for roadrunning and my feet quickly started to hurt so make sure and just use it for track or trail running. They are great for practicing for races as they are light but still comfy.

Fast and Light

I always liked the Nike Free Runs before I discovered these. I never wore brooks because they always felt to bulky, but these are not the typical brooks shoe. I highly recommend if you like the very light free feeling. I am on my second pair and will continue to buy these.

What is the stack height of this shoe?

2018/03/10 Minneapolis, MN Devin

Hi Devin! It is 27mm in the heel and 17mm in the forefoot! Brooks Running

what is the heel drop?

2017/08/15 san francisco dan

The midsole drop for the Asteria is 8mm.

For many years, the Racer ST has been my go-to race day shoes for anything short of a marathon. With those no longer available, is the Asteria the heir apparent. or does Brooks offer a better choice for a lightweight, fast shoe with stability? (Believe it or not, those of us that pronate want to run fast, too!)

2017/07/02 Roswell, GA Frugal Runner

The Asteria will be the best alternative to the Racer ST, as it is a lightweight racing flat that offers support.
