Support has to do with how much your body deviates from its natural movement pattern when you shift from a relaxed, natural state to your running stride. Our research shows that runners are generally either high deviators or low deviators. Brooks support technologies aid high deviators by guiding their body back into their natural way of moving. High deviators may prefer shoes labeled with "Support" or "Max Support." Low deviators often find that "Neutral" shoes work best for them.

Origin stories: the Levitate
To help runners chase down their goals, we introduced the Levitate in 2017. With incredible energy return and a super springy feel, the Levitate is the cornerstone of our Energize category, making each mile feel a little easier. We partnered with the materials company BASF to develop our DNA AMP midsole compound that provides ample energy return — among the highest in our line.
As the shoes continue to evolve into lighter, sleeker versions of the originals, we’re committed to offering energy return with options for support — as in the new Levitate GTS — as well as style preference.
