If the best-selling Adrenaline GTS and Sasquatch had a child (just go with it), it would be the Adrenaline ASR 11. This women’s trail running shoe is the perfect blend of award-winning fit and tricky terrain technologies. We start with the award-winning fit of the Adrenaline GTS 14, use closed mesh in the upper, treat it with DWR water-resistant coating, and make the outsole more aggressive for better traction off road and in wet conditions.

DNA Midsole

What is it?

Brooks DNA is an innovative and uniquely adaptive cushioning system. By adapting to your specific weight, pace, gait and running surface, DNA offers customized cushioning and adds a spring to your step.

Traditional cushioning takes a one-size-fits-all approach, but we know that each runner is different. Brooks DNA was developed to continuously tailor the level of cushioning to your specific needs – even as they change during the run.

How does it work?

Brooks DNA is made up of a highly viscous non-Newtonian material or more simply put, a material that adapts to the specific force you apply to it. Part of the brilliance is that this compound was engineered to perform at the molecular level (picture millions of resilient 'nanosprings').

If you looked at Brooks DNA through a microscope, you'd see that it's made up of individual molecules connected in strands. These strands (which form chains) react to the amount of force placed on the foot, dispersing pressure and providing resiliency. Bottom line of this physics lesson: You get tailored cushioning that reacts to your specific weight, pace, gait, movement and running environment – "made-for-me" cushioning vs. "one size fits all."

And, as with all good technology, we’ve taken it a step further (two steps actually):

  • BioMoGo DNA is DNA technology blended with the BioMoGo midsole to provide adaptive cushioning throughout the midsole vs. just in the heel and forefoot.
  • BioMoGo DNA midsole includes an organic, non-toxic additive that biodegrades the midsole 50 times faster than traditional EVA when it comes into contact with anaerobic landfill microbes (otherwise known as active, enclosed landfills).
  • 30% more cushioning than standard midsole materials (gel or EVA)
  • Twice as much energy return for more pep in your step
  • Great performance no matter your weight or running pace
  • Smoother transition from heel to toe

Segmented Crash Pad

What is it?

The Segmented Crash Pad customizes your foot's lay-down to provide amazing cushion and smooth heel-to-toe transition throughout the run.

How does it work?

We know that a key component of maximizing your run is to provide the smoothest possible heel-to-toe transition. The Segmented Crash Pad is one technology we use to achieve this goal.

Shaped like a caterpillar, the Segmented Crash Pad is a midsole made up of independent, yet fully integrated shock absorbers. As your foot strikes the ground, the segments work together to customize your individual lay down to provide the right amount of cushion and seamless heel-to-toe transition for you – making the most of all that effort you put into each stride.

I have been running for years, and this is my first Brooks trail shoe. I must say, I am impressed. I was skeptical at first, but decided to give them a whirl. I have low arches and right pronation. It was solid today in the snow, mud and slushy trail run today in Colorado.

This does not meet expectations. I have bought the ASR 9 once and ASR 10 twice. I was excited to see the redesign on the shoe's sole, but the support is not there! This does not support my arch and does not keep my ankle from rolling over like the previous models have. So disappointing.

    Comments about Adrenaline ASR 11:

I have struggled with shin splints for years, I recently started running again after taking about a year off. I was wearing old shoes and thought that was to blame for the return of my shin splints, so I bought the Adrenaline ASR 11's. My shin splints only slightly improved and did not heal until I took 2+ weeks off from running. I went on vacation and forgot to bring my Adrenaline ASR 11's and was running for about 2 weeks in old crappier sneakers without any shin pain. Once home I started running in my Adrenaline ASR 11's again on the same type of running surface and immediately the shin splints returned. I also have noticed my ankles roll a lot more in these sneakers and I have never had this problem before. I hate to begin looking for new sneakers but after 4 months with the Adrenaline ASR 11's I do not feel like I have another option.

      Comments about Adrenaline ASR 11:

I've been steadfastly wearing adrenalines for over 15 years of competitive running, but unfortunately this update has caused me nothing but problems. After a year of rehabbing a plica injury incurred while training in the road version of these shoes, I decided to give the ASR 11's a try. Within 5 days, all the old pain was back--but this time in both knees. At first glance, they seem comfortable and decently durable--but wear completely differently than the ASR 10's. They feel heavy and don't control my pronation issues like the previous editions did. Fortunately, the ASR 12's seem perfect, and I am running happily once again.

        Comments about Adrenaline ASR 11:

From wearing the Brooks Glycerine shoe for the past few years, I know to get Brooks in a full size larger. For me I usually have a 41, for Brooks I get the 42.5 which is perfect for me, thus I would say 'true to Brooks size' The Adrenaline ASR is specifically for people with high arches, so this shoe gives plenty of that. For me personally the Adrenaline is MUCH better than the Glycerine. The arch support is much better. The shoe is simply FANTASTIC -feels glove-like, gives a lot of arch support and cushioning which I definitely need after knee surgery due to a tennis injury. This is my new 'replace-every-six-months shoe'! The best in the line-up in my opinion!

Great shoe, only wish they came in other colors. I have tried many brands but Brooks is by far the best. After back surgery I didn't think I would ever find a comfortable shoe but Brooks made it possible. I wear them all the time even when I work cattle in the cattle pens.

This is my first pronation-control trail shoe. It took a couple of wears for my feet to feel comfortable in them, but now I love them! I had lingering plantar fasciitis is that is quickly-disappearing, thanks in part to these shoes! Moreover, I am able to run fast on trails in them, without falling. I like the fun color, too. Thanks Brooks!
