The Ghost 7 is a triple threat of balance, cushion, and lightweight materials. Hitting the sweet spot for millions of runners, this neutral running shoe for women gives you the stuff to kick back for miles on end, or lean in and pick up the pace. We’ve maintained the horseshoe-shaped crash pad, full ground contact, and omega grooves in the forefoot for the super-smooth heel-to-toe transition runners love. We’ve improved the multi-award-winning Ghost by making it smoother and lighter. BioMoGo DNA in the midsole offers adaptive cushioning and responsiveness. Bigger lugs in the forefoot make the Ghost feel more responsive as you run. And the look? More modern while remaining technical, thanks to the Ghost’s signature color-shift chevron and no-sew overlays. The Ghost may scare off the competition, but it’s plenty friendly to your feet.

DNA Midsole

What is it?

Brooks DNA is an innovative and uniquely adaptive cushioning system. By adapting to your specific weight, pace, gait and running surface, DNA offers customized cushioning and adds a spring to your step.

Traditional cushioning takes a one-size-fits-all approach, but we know that each runner is different. Brooks DNA was developed to continuously tailor the level of cushioning to your specific needs – even as they change during the run.

How does it work?

Brooks DNA is made up of a highly viscous non-Newtonian material or more simply put, a material that adapts to the specific force you apply to it. Part of the brilliance is that this compound was engineered to perform at the molecular level (picture millions of resilient 'nanosprings').

If you looked at Brooks DNA through a microscope, you'd see that it's made up of individual molecules connected in strands. These strands (which form chains) react to the amount of force placed on the foot, dispersing pressure and providing resiliency. Bottom line of this physics lesson: You get tailored cushioning that reacts to your specific weight, pace, gait, movement and running environment – "made-for-me" cushioning vs. "one size fits all."

And, as with all good technology, we’ve taken it a step further (two steps actually):

  • BioMoGo DNA is DNA technology blended with the BioMoGo midsole to provide adaptive cushioning throughout the midsole vs. just in the heel and forefoot.
  • BioMoGo DNA midsole includes an organic, non-toxic additive that biodegrades the midsole 50 times faster than traditional EVA when it comes into contact with anaerobic landfill microbes (otherwise known as active, enclosed landfills).

  • 30% more cushioning than standard midsole materials (gel or EVA)
  • Twice as much energy return for more pep in your step
  • Great performance no matter your weight or running pace
  • Smoother transition from heel to toe

Segmented Crash Pad

What is it?

The Segmented Crash Pad customizes your foot's lay-down to provide amazing cushion and smooth heel-to-toe transition throughout the run.

How does it work?

We know that a key component of maximizing your run is to provide the smoothest possible heel-to-toe transition. The Segmented Crash Pad is one technology we use to achieve this goal.

Shaped like a caterpillar, the Segmented Crash Pad is a midsole made up of independent, yet fully integrated shock absorbers. As your foot strikes the ground, the segments work together to customize your individual lay down to provide the right amount of cushion and seamless heel-to-toe transition for you – making the most of all that effort you put into each stride.

The Ghost 7 KALEIDOSCOPE is totally different than the other Ghost 7 shoes/colors. PLEASE make these shoes forever, I have never been so comfortable running. I'm training for a marathon and am going to buy another pair now. Bought them on a Thursday, ran a half marathon on that Saturday. Always worn the Ghost but this seriously is the BEST ever.

Don't mistake me: this is a very good shoe. I started training in these a bit less than a month ago, alternating with my old shoes to avoid blisters (an unnecessary precaution since these are a great fit - no chafing or rubbing anywhere, lovely and light).
However: even though I have hardly trained with them yet, the lining around the ankles is already worn through. I have never had that problem on my previous shoe. I cannot believe after 6 or seven shortish (between 5 and 20k) runsthe lining should already be giving way.

This is my first running shoe that does not stand friction. Taking it back to the store tomorrow. A real pity, apart from that, I loved these shoes

      Comments about Ghost 7:

I hate having running injuries, but since I started buying this shoe, (I'm on pair #6), I have NOT injured myself. I am not a fan of the appearance (they are not my first pick in style), BUT because of performance, I don't see myself buying a different running shoe. I used to run only indoors on a treadmill, but in the last 6 months fell in love with trail running. These shoes worked great at the gym and still are what I wear on the trails. These shoes are extremely comfortable - and most importantly,I have only had healthy feet since using this comfortable shoe.

I have been a fan of the Ghost 6 - having worn out 3 pairs. So, I was concerned that the style was no longer available. Fortunately, the Ghost 7 is meeting my needs just fine. In fact, the shoe wears the same. It just has a different appearance than the 6.

I sized up half a size (as recommended), which was perfect (I'm a 7 so got these in 7.5). I love them! They are lightweight and provide a cushioned ride across all types of terrain (have used them running in the Grand Canyon, on urban trails, as well as paved streets and city sidewalks). I appreciate their versatily and appealing look (I got them in Beetroot Purple/Black/Silver). I think they also helped me to finally kick plantar fasciitis, which is huge!! (the Brooks Shoe Advisor recommended these shoes for me)

                  Comments about Ghost 7:

I run 10-15 miles per week. Not sure if that really classifies me as an "avid athlete," but I'm not a "casual/recreational" runner either. I have been wearing Brooks Glycerins for several years and really liked their cushioning and arch support. I have narrow feet and high arches. But I could not get the right fit with my most recent pair of Glycerin 11s: my normal size was too short, a half size up slipped on my heel. I decided to try the Ghost 7 instead and am really happy so far. They fit like my old Glycerin 10s and seem very supportive, while being a bit lighter in weight. I put an Aetrex arch support insole in them, as I do in all my running shoes, and it fits fine. It is hard to find a good neutral shoe in narrow widths, so I'm glad these are working out. No comments on wear since I have not been running in them for very long.

I'm an avid runner. I used to love Ghosts, but for some reason these just felt wrong. They felt very heavy and clunky and make a terrible squeaking noise with each step. But it was only the right foot that squeaked.

This is my second pair of ghost 7. I was hoping these would last longer than 4 months. The first pair lasted a short time too. I am very dissapointed. I only jog 4 times a week for 3 miles each time. On a neighborhood street. These shoes are very expensive to only last a short time.
