Finally, the perfect shoe

By DGD

Pros

  • Comfortable
  • Cushions Impact

Cons

  • Narrow / Tight

Best Uses

  • Dry Weather
  • Endurance Training
  • Gym

Ever since the Ghost changed a couple versions ago, I have been looking for the "right" shoe and coming up short. Finally happened upon these at an LRS, and while I had to go up a half size for added width (other Brooks have always been true to size for me), they are working out well. They feel very supportive without being stiff and heavy or throwing my stride oiut of whack like stability shoes do. Why they are not more popular, I do not know. But I for one am glad I found them.

Poor arch support

About Me Avid Athlete

Pros

  • Cushions Impact
  • Lightweight

Cons

  • Poor Arch Support

Best Uses

  • Dry Weather
  • Endurance Training

  • With Orthotics/Inserts

I am a marathon runner & used the Defyance 6 and was very happy with them. I did put a different insole (athletic one) in them and was fine with the arch support. The Defyance 7 does have less arch support & I am little disappointed even with the insole in them. That is a major part of the shoe and is something that you don't want to change. I would recommend trying them because it is a great quality shoe. Holds up well and you get good mileage out of them (325 miles per pair).

disappointed with this upgrade

I loved the Defyance 6 and was very disappointed when they changed to the 7. The new changes make it a like a totally different shoe. Now that I can not find anymore Defyance 6 out for sale, I am struggling to find a new shoe. Please change back to the style of the 6!!!!

      Only Shoes I Buy

      By Katy07

      Pros

      • Comfortable

      • Lightweight

      Cons

      • Poor Cushioning

      Best Uses

      • Gym
      • Trail Running
      • Walking
      • With Orthotics/Inserts

Since getting these shoes fitted to my gait and running style, these have been the only brand/model I buy.

Great overall shoes, I wear them for treadmill/city running, spin class, and at the gym. They're lightweight and provide good shock absorption. I did not find the stock inserts supportive enough; I use custom insoles given to me by my chiropractor.

And yes, I am so in love with these shoes that I have them shipped from my hometown Seattle to my current residence, Seoul.

Not what I'd expected from the defyance

      Cons

      • Bulky

      • Poor Arch Support
      • Poor Stability

      Best Uses

Just disappointed. That arch "feel" that my defyances always had is gone with this design. Glad I didn't buy these closer to marathon time. The search is on to get "my shoe" back.
