I was looking for a minimalist shoe, but found out I needed a little more cushion than provided in a traditional minimalist shoe. These were perfect, not to much cushion where I can still feel the road but not every rock! I feel fast in these shoes and will always buy PureConnects. I am on my 2nd pair in 6 months.

After ONLY 2 months of wearing 1-2 times per week at light duty, 3 of the bottom pads fell off. Brooks is sending another pair but I will still be buying a new pair of shoes in 2 months because they designed them that way. Here is Brooks' response to my complaint.....

Hi Leigh,

Thank you for contacting Brooks Sports. We have sent you a one time replacement pair of shoes. Please allow 5-7 business days for your new shoes to arrive. All of our shoes are designed to be used specifically for running and walking. The Pure Connect 2 is a minimal running shoe made with fewer and lighter weight materials. When used for its intended purpose these shoes will have a life expectancy of 250-300 miles or 2-4 months.

Happy Running,

    Comments about PureConnect 2:

After three foot surgeries in nine months, I had given up hope that I'd ever run again. My feet ached all the time whenever I tried a workout. My marathon-running friends had told me to try Brooks and I finally broke down and spent the money. Happily, I am back to running (5-10)miles a week and my feet don't hurt. I bought a second pair just to have on hand for later.

      Comments about PureConnect 2:

I wear these for crossfit, and they are great for the running and WODs. I only swap these out for my weightlifting shoes for the oly lifts and weighted squats. I have a neutral foot with high arches, had been wearing INOV-8s, but needed something more supportive on the arches for box jumps, sprints, and other higher impact movements. These are perfect- still lightweight, have a minimalist feel, but there is a bit more cushion and a contoured footbed to support my arch and keep my feet in a good neutral position when landing any jump movement. Very happy with the purchase! But definitely size up by a half size. I'm an 8 in street shoes, an 8.5 in athletic shoes, and I needed a 9 in these.

        Comments about PureConnect 2:

I've trained for 2 half marathons in these shoes, I love them, but have had to get a new pair after each race. I don't mind that I have to buy a full size over my "normal" size, it's just a number. The fit is fantastic, the arch support is good, shoe is light, fast, breathable... but the cusioning and arch support goes away so quickly! I run a maximum of 18 miles a week when I'm training, which isn't a ton, but the shoes still wear out quickly. Durability is the one thing I wish could be improved on this shoe.

In comparison to the PC3 update, I found that the toe box on the PC3 was too roomy, so I am sticking with the PC2 for as long as they're made. (I own 3 pairs!) I hope the next gen of PureConnect is closer in structure to the PC2, but as durable as I have heard the PC3 to be.

        Comments about PureConnect 2:

First of all, I loved my original PureConnects. They are still my all-time favorite running shoes. I have no pronation (and a background in ballet), so I prefer a minimalist shoe. I also own the PureCadence 2, but the amount of cushioning they have actually hurts my ankles after awhile. Because I have very narrow feet, it is difficult to find a shoe that is both A) minimal enough, and B) not so wide that it leaves an inch of space in the toe box. The PureConnect 1s were the only shoes that met these requirements and kept me comfy on long runs. With that said...

PROS: The PureConnect 2s use the same footbed as the original PureConnects, and have the same sizing (they run small, so I go a half size up from my usual Brooks sizing).

CONS: The taco wrap style and asymmetrical lacing make it very difficult get a good, snug, secure fit when you're putting them on -- and ensure that they fit comfortably for a full run. With a little effort and 5 extra minutes (that's 2/3 mile of daylight, wasted, people!), it IS possible to finally get the PureConnect 2s to fit properly. But to do so, you must darn near unlace the shoes, then swaddle your foot in the taco wrap like a colicky newborn, then re-tighten the laces through zig-zagging loops that resemble a child's drawing of Ursa Major, with equally random placement.
(I get it. They got more swag now that the laces are all cray cray. But if I'm going for "looks cool," I've got other options in my closet. When I buy Brooks, I wanna RUN.)

I chose not to buy these shoes when they first came out, because I disliked the taco wrap and the lacing style. I have only resorted to buying them now, on clearance, because I found out the PureConnect 3s have a wider toe box.

Don't get me wrong -- I like Brooks. And I like these shoes. I just don't love them like I loved my original PureConnects. And based on the direction of the last few redesigns, I have a feeling I will truly dislike the PureConnect 3s.

Brooks, I feel like our affair may be coming to an end. I wish I could say, "it's not you, it's me," but unfortunately in this case... you've changed.

The shoes were bought for my daughter who claims her running times have decreased since she has been wearing this shoe. The overall comfort of her foot is fabulous, they are so light and she loves them. This was her 3rd pair.

I went online because I tried on Connect3 and hated them (too wide, ugly, etc.), not streamlined like the Connect shoes I bought 3 years ago. Figured the Connect2 were better than the 3's from reading reviews. I was right. Like Connect2, though not so much as the others.
