I just happened to find this shoe on the Brooks website after trying nearly every other Brooks running shoe. I have nerve pain and bunions and found this shoe fit my wide forefoot yet it's still snug and comfortable around my narrow heel.
Altho the shoe insert is very cushioned and comfortable, I couldn't use it since it took up too much room when I put in my custom orthotics. I found replacing it with a flat Spenco insert gave me even more toe room, yet I still have great cushion and can use my orthotic with no problems.
Another plus: the two center lace holes (arch side only) have an elastic band which I think is a great design detail. I find it creates a snug fit around my instep yet it doesn't bind across the top of my foot. Also, love the cushioned tongue!

Compared to the Ghost 6, which I wore the past year, the Dyad fits better around the bunion area, has more toe room (once original shoe insert is removed) and it has a nice lining behind the mesh in the forefoot area. The Ghost appears to have no lining and my bunion areas would gradually become sore from the rough mesh..... ie: forget wearing thin socks with the Ghost!

The Dyad 7 is a stiffer shoe and doesn't have the flex that the Ghost has, but for my foot that's a plus. With arthritis, nerve problems and a bunion, I've learned that too much movement is not a good thing.

For Brooks: I still love their shoes but I've been unhappy that they don't make many of the shoes in a D width. The Trance was my favorite shoe, then they stopped making it in a 'D'. Thank goodness the Dyad 7 comes in wide sizes!

Love this shoe but am so baffled by the fact that there are absolutely no fun color schemes for women who have big & wide feet. Such a bummer. At a 10.5 Wide, I'm really tired of boring &, in most cases, ugly colors. :( How about some fun, bright Newton-like colors???? If it weren't for the lacking colors I would have rated the shoe 5 stars.

Comments about Dyad 7:

Bought this at the local running store after a long search for running shoes that would work well with my flat feet. I trained in them last summer for my third marathon and it was really tough at first. As they are quite heavy and bulk, it took a long time for me to get used to them but after I did, they were great. I beat my PR in my third marathon in these! Hoping the DYAD 8s are lighter.

    Comments about Dyad 7:

I love the Dyad 5 and 6. I wish I could find another pair. The Dyad 7 does not work for me. Something is different with the toe box and although the shoe fits great everywhere else, my toes always hit the inside of the shoe. The right shoe already has a small hole in the toe area even with minimum wear. Also, this shoe is just plain ugly. Maybe the Dyad 8 will be better.

    Comments about Dyad 7:

I got these shoes to run distances up to 15 miles in them. I wanted black with fluorescent yellow highlights. These were the closest. I wanted some lightweight shoes with motion control for my flat feet. When I opened the box, they look like old lady orthotic shoes instead of distance running shoes for a 31 yo. I went on a run in them one time and they were heavy and cumbersome. Once I was done with the run, my ankles were really stiff.

These looked different online, than when I pulled them out of the box. I was looking for a pair that was light, with motion control for flat feet. I wanted them in black with fluorescent yellow highlights. When I opened them up, they look like old lady shoes and they were not light at all. When I went for a run in them, they just seem heavy and cumbersome and left my ankles feeling stiff.

use only for my daily walks for only an hour a day so was very disappointed when a hole appeared in toe area after 6 months. But...these shoes have helped with a bad knee I am convinced. Will use duct tape for the toes when I get another pair but for this price I shouldn't have to replace so soon.

      Comments about Dyad 7:

I am overweight and flat-footed, so running has never really seemed like an option to lose the pounds. I have tried running before, but could only get so far before my arches and calves would be so sore, I couldn't even walk! I'd give up every time, and the vicious cycle continued. The Dyad is the first shoe that gave me arch support AND was comfortable (it's like walking on a cloud). This sneaker allows me to do the work, and for longer periods of time. My only complaint is that the colors are terrible and could use a little spicing up!

Finally, 12 WW in Brooks shoes! I've had to wear men's shoes until now because of the size of my feet, which made my feet lean outward. These shoes fit perfectly and help me walk correctly. Please make more neutral size 12 WW shoes! Thank you.

My sister recommended Brooks Shoes and when I saw the price I was like Yikes!! but she assured me that they are well worth the price and she was correct. I will buy these shoes from now on- nothing has ever felt so good on my feet and there was absolutley no break in time-- the moment I out them on my feet I knew I had made a wise purchase. Thank you Brooks for designing these shoes with the wearer in mind.
