I used my bright blue Launch shoes for marathon training going into the San Antonio Marathon. The shoes were lightweight but had just enough cushioning to support me during long runs. Seems that with other shoes, you have to sacrifice support for lightweight, I didn't feel that at all with these shoes. When I first started using them, the tongue did bunch up on me around mile 10 and would put pressure on the top of my foot. This happened twice, but relacing my shoes by looping through the top two laces (apparently, there is a *right* way to tie your laces for marathons) and this pulled the shoe around my foot better and kept the tongue from scrunching up. The shoes have lasted since October (it's currently the middle of January), while I have racked up long long long runs, including the November San Antonio marathon. I don't feel like they've broken down yet and am actually hoping they take me through spring training and into my next race. Additionally, tying up my shoes and seeing the shoelaces remind me to "Dig Deep" always puts a smile on my face!

I run about 30 miles a week and bought these shoes to run the Cowtown Marathon. My heels have hurt from the first run. I thought they needed to be broken in but the pain continued after many miles both indoors and out. I ran a 10k this morning in a competetive brand and realized the Launch has very little cushion in the heel (comparitively). I LOVE Brooks and have worn the Ghost 3 & 6 and the Glycerin but I found this shoe to be disappointing. I'll keep it for strength training but I won't continue to run in them.

Comments about Launch:

I love this Brooks Launch shoe so much that when they ran out of the other 2 color options, I bought the ugly pink/orange and green color! That's how awesome this shoe is! Lol. I love it because it is so lightweight and has great cushion and support. It does wear fairly quickly, but for me, it's in a certain spot because I land more on the outer part of my foot (underpronate). I feel like I can run so much faster in this shoe. I've gotten five 1st Place Finishes in a 5K in this shoe and 2 Half-Marathon PRs! It's a sweet choice!

Comments about Launch:

This is a non-conventional use, but I use these in marching band practice for Ohio State's marching band. I have never, EVER found shoes that respond so well both on and off the field. They practically propel you forward and push your foot up as it comes down. This is also the first time in weeks I haven't had shin splints or severe arch pain this late in the season. I tried these after destroying my feet on a pair of free runs....I will NEVER go back. Thank you Brooks!

    Comments about Launch:

I adore this shoe. I went into shock when I learned Brooks was discontinuing it and have stockpiled them since it came back. I am very nervous of the prospect of a Launch 2 - this shoe makes running feel like running should feel!

These were originally recommended to me as a fast trainer for speedwork, but I found them so comfortable I started wearing them all the time. That was almost 4 years ago now.

I'm a light runner with a small frame, I supinate and am a forefoot striker. This means the heel of shoes is no use to me - and this is one of the first pairs I've had that does not have an over engineered heel that gets in the way of my running.

I use these to train for anything from 5K - marathon, fast, slow, short, long, treadmill, whatever.

I have tried out other shoes in preparation for the time when these shoes will no longer be available, but there is simply no substitute. They are the best.

      Comments about Launch:

A previous reviewer confirmed what I suspected: the turquoise and coral model is a smidge narrower than previous models. I had the previous model - ruby red and maize - and enjoyed them from the first run - the drop, the cushioning, the fit. This updated fit is just narrow enough that I'm afraid I will run into foot problems on longer runs. I wish Brooks would consider going back to the older last.
