Men's Chariot Heritage

Style #110178

Originally born in 1982, the legendary Brooks Chariot was one of the most worn running shoes by runners in the eighties. Our rejuvenated award-winner features many of the same tech qualities pioneered during the decade. A medial wedge for pronation control, molded tri-layer insole for cushioning, solid rubber outsole, reflective hits for visibility – this shoe blew legwarmers out of the water. Crafted from our history yet designed for the modern man, what’s past is prologue has never been a truer statement.

Please note: The Chariot pays tribute to its original design, but this modern refresh is not a performance running shoe. As everyday kicks, you may wish to choose a half size smaller than your Brooks running shoes.

I usually wear an 11 but with these I had to move up to 11.5. Even the 11.5 is almost too small. A copule months after purchasing these I ended up getting a second pair but tried a size 12. I prefer the size twelve over my pair that is an 11.5. Conclusion, get at least a half size bigger than you usually do.

The hard brown Brooks shoes I tried look nice, but they simply don't work like the running shoe because they are built in a completely different way.

So far, the best fit and support I have found has been the Adrenaline GTS 13. Subsequent years of the GTS have not controlled my pronation as well. Only the GTS 13 has prevented my great toe joints from hurting - glad I bought three pairs while I could! I keep hoping design evolution will return to this good support. Maybe 2016?

I use these mostly as my stylish shoes. I don't work out in them but I do like wearing them on a night out where I'll be walking a lot. They are really forgiving and feel very soft. I like that about them. They feel light and airy.

                Comments about Chariot:

I was a runner back in the '80s, and wore out two pairs of the original Chariots, so I was glad to see they were still available. The originals were a great shoe. After a hard run I would ask myself how my feet felt, and the answer was my feet felt nothing.

I ordered a pair and when they arrived, they appeared identical to the originals down to the reflective tab in back. Sadly, my feet are not identical to the originals after 30 years, so I wasn't sure how they would feel. After several wearings I am happy to say they will be fine.

My memory of their feel is returning. Feet feel like they are on rails. Some complained they felt narrow, but they were billed as a motion control shoe, and that narrow feel is doing just that.

I only walk now, but now I can re-live my glory days...sort of.

These shoes look good and feel good. The tongue needs some work because it constantly needs to be moved around to fit right. I wore the shoes for 4 days and the toe tip rubber started peeling away from the shoe. Not good. Look was great, but they need to last longer.
