Men's Cascadia 9

$120.00 $65.00

Style #110160

Born and raised to run the trail, the Cascadia 9 loves to get down and gritty. Tackle tricky terrain with 4-point pivot posts that balance like an SUV's independent suspension system and protect those paws with the ballistic rock shield underfoot. No-sew construction brings comfort sans weight and a BioMoGo DNA midsole adapts cushioning to not only your feet, but also the surfaces of adventure. Enhancements like a slightly lowered heel and flat laces equip this next generation Cascadia for the call of the wild.

We’re not the only people wild about the Cascadia 9. Runner’s World Magazine named the shoe “Editor’s Choice” in their April 2014 issue. The editors called the Cascadia “a workhorse”, noting that “it provides a supportive yet flexible ride on diverse trail surfaces and is great for running on snowy pavement.” Oh, and they also noted that the Cascadia 9 “looks as good with jeans as it does on singletrack trails.” Aw, shucks.

Please note: The Cascadia is designed as a trail running shoe. While a lot of people love it as a fastpacking and thru-hiking shoe while carrying ultralight gear; the Cascadia is not pack-rated and may not hold up to the extra weight and demands of long pack hikes. We’re your go-to option for trail runs, but a sturdy hiking boot may be better suited for heavy packs.

The Cascadia 10's 4-point pivot system is now even more responsive, so it's more offroad-ready than ever. > See the Cascadia 10 Trail Running Shoes

I've owed at least one pair of every Cascadia since the second version. Each edition is a little different than the others (exception: #6 was a lot different). I've always been 'mostly' happy with each version. I have my favorites (#3 and #5) and my least favorite (#6). I'll put 400-700 miles on each pair.

I've been on two mountain runs in the 9 so far, and I'm instantly happy with this version.

Pros: The biggest change I see in the 9 versus the 8 is that the 9 has a little wider toe box. For me, this is a positive change; I like that little extra room for toes to splay.

Pros: Same ol' Cascadia feel.

Cons: The two guidance loops at the top of the tongue make it a little cumbersome to tighten the laces like I'm used to. The loops are meant to keep the tongue for sliding down, but they just feel like they're in they way.

I guess I am a semi-pro athlete. I run a number of ultra marathons every year. The Cascadia has been the go-to shoe for years. I haven't raced in anything else. Unfortunately, the design and durability seem to be in a downward spiral. Brooks had this shoe right for a number of years, unfortunately the sole does not offer me as much protection as it use to for a 100 mile race. The tread tears off in chunks. I will miss the Cascadia of old, but I sure got a lot of amazing training and racing miles in them.

Pros

  • Comfortable
  • Good Arch Support
  • Good Traction

Cons

    Best Uses

    • Trail Running

    Comments about Cascadia 9:

Purchased to run a trail marathon and only had time for a few "break in" runs. The Cascadia 9 was comfortable right out of the box and provided far more traction on slippery trails that "road" shoes. No issues during the race. A great purchase!

Do not recommend for road running

    Comments about Cascadia 9:

I love Brooks shoes. I love the Cascadia. This version 9 is a good one. Ordered a 2nd pair to have on hand because you never know how the next version will compare. I wasn't a huge fan of the 8 but 9 is great.

These shoes are a dream on the trail. I have always been an avid runner, and the Cascadia has everything I need in a long distance trail shoe. The cushion... The responsiveness... Wearing the Cascadia is like turning your feet into mountain lion paws made of clouds.

        Comments about Cascadia 9:

Like the shoe but I have had two pairs replaced because the lugs rip out. One after only two runs. It has cause me to rethink Brooks which is a shame because I have run Adrenaline's for so long and have enjoy the cascadia (when they survive).
