Brooks® Sports' Ghost 3 Crowned Runner's World "International Editor’s Choice"
Shoe Leads Brand’s Strong Global Sales Growth in Neutral Category
Bothell, WA – November 11, 2010
Leading running company Brooks® Sports, Inc. (www.brooksrunning.com) announced today that the Ghost 3—the newest update of the brand’s popular neutral running shoe—took home the preeminent "2010 International Editor’s Choice" award by the worldwide authority on running, Runner’s World. The Brooks Ghost 3 was crowned in front of the who’s who of the running industry at the magazine’s annual International Shoe Awards Party on November 5 at Providence in New York City.
Selected from 90 performance running shoes reviewed in the magazine throughout 2010, the Brooks Ghost 3 was voted "the shoe heard '‘round the world" by Runner's World's global editors
"The '2010 International Editor's Choice' award for the Ghost 3 honors the hard work our team relentlessly invests in building great product that runners want and need," said Jim Weber, president and CEO of Brooks. "This is an exciting time for Brooks, and this recognition fuels our drive to keep giving runners positive and unique product experiences for seasons to come."
Leading the charge in sales growth for the neutral category, Brooks' worldwide Ghost sales are up 107 percent in 2010. Global sales of Brooks' neutral category shoes—driven by the momentum of both the Ghost 3 and Glycerin® 8, the Runner's World "Editor's Choice" award winner in the Spring 2010 Shoe Guide—are up 57 percent year to date.
The "2010 International Editor's Choice" award is just the latest accolade for the Ghost franchise. Runner's World originally awarded "Editor's Choice" to the Ghost 3 in the magazine's Fall 2010 Shoe Guide in the September issue, scoring it the highest out of 24 performance running shoes wear tested and reviewed over the course of one month. "It's still light and zippy while being supportive enough to protect your legs on long runs," stated the Runner's World review, adding that testers enjoyed the shoe's snug fit through the heel and midfoot. Furthermore, magazine editors awarded the Ghost 2 "Best Update" in September 2009 and "2009 International Best Update" during its 2009 International Shoe Awards Party in November 2009.
The Brooks Ghost 3, released July 1, 2010, offers a variety of runners across the neutral spectrum bounce and balance thanks to generous cushioning and inherent stability. The updated style, now available in multiple widths, features an improved forefoot and flex groove pattern, caterpillar crash pad for the ultimate heel-to-midfoot transition, an upper that envelops the foot for a fit that feels custom, and eye-popping colors and on-trend gradient detailing. Suggested retail price of the Ghost 3 is $100.00.
