Brooks® Sports, Inc., a leading performance running company headquartered in Bothell, Wash., announced on Saturday the grand prize winner of an all new 2008 Saturn Vue XR Compact Sport Utility in the Hansons-Brooks Team Sweepstakes. Brooks named Marianne Offenbecher of Puyallup, Wash. the lucky winner who received the golden blue box and walked away with the car.
Offenbecher, Mark Liptak of Columbus, Ohio and Suzanne Windsor of Brandon, Miss. were randomly chosen Oct. 19 from more than 200,000 entries. All three were flown to New York for a three-night trip for two to cheer on the Hansons-Brooks team at the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials, be a VIP guest at the their post-race party celebrating American long distance running, and contend to win a new Saturn Vue. At the party, each of the three winners randomly picked a blue Brooks shoe box and were told to open them on the count of three. As she ripped off the ribbon and pulled out the tissue paper, Offenbecher had a look of disbelief as she was greeted with a photo of her new car.
“I can’t believe it,” exclaimed Offenbecher, who waited to open her shoe box until last, convinced she wouldn’t win. Leaving the party with her winning shoe box in hand, Offenbecher will be able claim her new Saturn when she returns home to Washington.
