Brooks® Sports’ New Ghost 3 Rustles up Top Industry Honors

Runner’s World and Endurance Sports Media Award “Editor’s Choice” To Running Brand’s Updated Neutral Shoe

Bothell, Wash. – July 27, 2010

Leading running company Brooks Sports, Inc. (www.brooksrunning.com) announced today that the Ghost 3—a fall update of the brand’s popular neutral running shoe—has taken home the coveted “Editor’s Choice” award by the worldwide authority on running, Runner’s World. In the magazine’s Fall 2010 Shoe Guide, published in the September issue hitting newsstands this week, Brooks’ Ghost 3 scored highest out of 24 performance running shoes wear tested and reviewed over the course of one month.

In addition, Endurance Sports Media Group, publisher of more than 20 regional running and endurance athlete publications distributed throughout North America, also awarded the Ghost 3 “Editor’s Choice” in its Fall 2010 Shoe Guide, available in September and October issues.

“These two award wins are particularly exciting for our brand as we see more and more interest from runners in neutral running shoe options,” said Andre Kriwet, director of footwear merchandising for Brooks. “Being recognized by these two industry authorities for the Ghost 3 validates our team’s hard work and Brooks’ ongoing commitment to meeting the varying needs of today’s runners.”

Brooks, which designs and markets performance footwear, apparel, and accessories exclusively for the runner, released the Ghost 3 on July 1, 2010. The shoe offers a variety of runners across the neutral spectrum bounce and balance thanks to generous cushioning and inherent stability. The updated style, now available in multiple widths, features an improved forefoot and flex groove pattern, caterpillar crash pad for the ultimate heel-to-midfoot transition, an upper that envelops the foot for a fit that feels custom, and eye-popping colors and on-trend gradient detailing.

“It’s still light and zippy while being supportive enough to protect your legs on long runs,” stated the Runner’s World review of the Ghost 3, adding that testers enjoyed the shoe’s snug fit through the heel and midfoot.

Showcasing excitement for the Ghost 3 in both specialty running and national account retail channels, order backlog for the shoe increased 145 percent for the fall 2010 season, relative to that of the Ghost 2 for fall 2009.

The Ghost 3 also features Brooks’ environmentally-friendly full-length BioMoGo midsole, as well as HydroFlow® in the heel and forefoot for enhanced midsole cushioning. Additionally, the neutral performance running shoe includes the brand’s anatomically contoured Profile sockliner, as well as moisture-managing Element linings. Runners can select from the Ghost 3 in two men’s and two women’s color options, as well as regular, narrow, and wide widths. Suggested retail price of the Ghost 3 is $100.00.
