Style #120181

Over hill, over dale, when you hit the dusty trail, hit it in the new Cascadia 10 women's trail-running shoe. Built with a 4-point pivot posting system that provides increased flexibility and adaptability on tricky terrain, and a ballistic rock shield which sounds awesome and is awesome when it comes to protecting your foot from trail hazards. The full-length, segmented crash pad allows for ideal ground contact from foot-strike to toe-off and the adaptive BioMoGo DNA midsole gives you custom cushioning. Conformable saddle construction in the upper, plus moisture management fabric and hydrophobic foam all come together to create a rugged, comfortable, lightweight trail running super-shoe.

Please note: The Cascadia is designed as a trail running shoe. While a lot of people love it as a fastpacking and thru-hiking shoe while carrying ultralight gear; the Cascadia is not pack-rated and may not hold up to the extra weight and demands of long pack hikes. We’re your go-to option for trail runs, but a sturdy hiking boot may be better suited for heavy packs.

DNA Midsole

What is it?

Brooks DNA is an innovative and uniquely adaptive cushioning system. By adapting to your specific weight, pace, gait and running surface, DNA offers customized cushioning and adds a spring to your step.

Traditional cushioning takes a one-size-fits-all approach, but we know that each runner is different. Brooks DNA was developed to continuously tailor the level of cushioning to your specific needs – even as they change during the run.

How does it work?

Brooks DNA is made up of a highly viscous non-Newtonian material or more simply put, a material that adapts to the specific force you apply to it. Part of the brilliance is that this compound was engineered to perform at the molecular level (picture millions of resilient 'nanosprings').

If you looked at Brooks DNA through a microscope, you'd see that it's made up of individual molecules connected in strands. These strands (which form chains) react to the amount of force placed on the foot, dispersing pressure and providing resiliency. Bottom line of this physics lesson: You get tailored cushioning that reacts to your specific weight, pace, gait, movement and running environment – "made-for-me" cushioning vs. "one size fits all."

And, as with all good technology, we’ve taken it a step further (two steps actually):

  • BioMoGo DNA is DNA technology blended with the BioMoGo midsole to provide adaptive cushioning throughout the midsole vs. just in the heel and forefoot.
  • BioMoGo DNA midsole includes an organic, non-toxic additive that biodegrades the midsole 50 times faster than traditional EVA when it comes into contact with anaerobic landfill microbes (otherwise known as active, enclosed landfills).

  • 30% more cushioning than standard midsole materials (gel or EVA)
  • Twice as much energy return for more pep in your step
  • Great performance no matter your weight or running pace
  • Smoother transition from heel to toe

      Comments about Cascadia 10:

I like how comfortable the Cascadias are but I wish there were more of an arch. My arches ache but Cascadia is the most comfortable shoes Brooks makes. I liked my Cascadia 7's better than my Cascadia 10's. However I would buy them again and again.

        Comments about Cascadia 10:

I really wanted to love this shoe, but it just wasn't a good fit for me. I've had a few foot surgeries so I tend to be pickier when it comes to finding the perfect fit. I liked the stability for trail running but the toe box wasn't snug enough. The weight was heavier than I expected but understandably so for the solid construction. If you are a neutral runner and don't have any foot problems, give Cascadia a try.

Until then, I went with Glycerin 12 which I love for everyday running. Still searching for the perfect trail shoe.

          Comments about Cascadia 10:

At first I was jogging on pavement & these shoes felt quite different from my previous Ghosts. I noticed that the perimeter of the sole seemed higher than the mid section & the shoe felt somewhat stiff.. But in a short time I was on a dirt/gravel trail and then they dug in and felt really great. They are excellent on gravel, bumps, & dirt, and feel just fine now on pavement, too. My runs usually are of one hour to an hour and a half.
