DNA Midsole

What is it?

Brooks DNA is an innovative and uniquely adaptive cushioning system. By adapting to your specific weight, pace, gait and running surface, DNA offers customized cushioning and adds a spring to your step.

Traditional cushioning takes a one-size-fits-all approach, but we know that each runner is different. Brooks DNA was developed to continuously tailor the level of cushioning to your specific needs – even as they change during the run.

How does it work?

Brooks DNA is made up of a highly viscous non-Newtonian material or more simply put, a material that adapts to the specific force you apply to it. Part of the brilliance is that this compound was engineered to perform at the molecular level (picture millions of resilient 'nanosprings').

If you looked at Brooks DNA through a microscope, you'd see that it's made up of individual molecules connected in strands. These strands (which form chains) react to the amount of force placed on the foot, dispersing pressure and providing resiliency. Bottom line of this physics lesson: You get tailored cushioning that reacts to your specific weight, pace, gait, movement and running environment – "made-for-me" cushioning vs. "one size fits all."

And, as with all good technology, we’ve taken it a step further (two steps actually):

  • BioMoGo DNA is DNA technology blended with the BioMoGo midsole to provide adaptive cushioning throughout the midsole vs. just in the heel and forefoot.
  • BioMoGo DNA midsole includes an organic, non-toxic additive that biodegrades the midsole 50 times faster than traditional EVA when it comes into contact with anaerobic landfill microbes (otherwise known as active, enclosed landfills).

  • 30% more cushioning than standard midsole materials (gel or EVA)
  • Twice as much energy return for more pep in your step
  • Great performance no matter your weight or running pace
  • Smoother transition from heel to toe

Segmented Crash Pad

What is it?

The Segmented Crash Pad customizes your foot's lay-down to provide amazing cushion and smooth heel-to-toe transition throughout the run.

How does it work?

We know that a key component of maximizing your run is to provide the smoothest possible heel-to-toe transition. The Segmented Crash Pad is one technology we use to achieve this goal.

Shaped like a caterpillar, the Segmented Crash Pad is a midsole made up of independent, yet fully integrated shock absorbers. As your foot strikes the ground, the segments work together to customize your individual lay down to provide the right amount of cushion and seamless heel-to-toe transition for you – making the most of all that effort you put into each stride.

I am a supporter of Brooks shoes. I have had many models in the past. Before purchasing this shoe I took time to carefully read all of the reviews. With that said, I almost did not buy them. First of all..the heel does slip a little, but if you tie them using all of the lace holes, it remedies this problem. They do fit a little different from the previous models, but not a bad different. I agree with everyone who is frustrated that Brooks completely changes a perfectly good shoe, but this one works too!! I have run on the trail and road in snowy wet conditions, and my feet stayed dry and warm. I am not too upset that they feel slightly bigger because if I wanted to layer my socks, I could. Again it did not affect my running. These are good shoes for being outdoors. They are not indoor shoes!!! They have a good tread on the bottom to keep you from slipping or going over terrain.I like the color and the more I use them, the more I like them. Some people have complained about the shoe tongue being sewn to the shoe and they did not like this. Okay, this is necessary to keep out rain or snow if you are not wearing gaiters. This is not a problem. Also, some have said that because of the tongue being sewn it causes an irritation on top of your foot. Yes it will if you have your shoes tied way too tight...!! I wanted to address the "noise or squishing" that some commented on..Yes, they make a slight squishing noise, but Hello!! They are Gore-tex shoes not meant as an indoor working or running shoe!! Put your music on and you will never even notice it!! I hope this helps others considering this shoe...Run Happy!!! :)

The Adrenaline ASR 10 was my Holy Grail and I've bought 4 pairs of them in the last few years.

I went in to try these on last night at my local running store and I very disappointed that they have changed the shoe!
:(

I put them on and walked the length of the store. I told the lady helping me that they didn't feel right, like they were forcing my feet to turn in when I walked. Just to see if it was me or the shoe, I walked a lap around the store and decided no it's not me, it's the shoe. She said Brooks did change the support between the 10 and the 11. The 10 had a solid support piece that ran the whole length of the arch. For the 11 they split the piece into 2 pieces. She suggested we try on the treadmill to see how my feet were really landing. It showed that there is no longer enough support with shoe and my feet were already hurting.

Very very disappointed. Brooks how could you?! You ruined my shoe!

None of the other Brooks shoes that I tried on were any better. :(

Comments about Adrenaline ASR 11 GTX:

I love my brooks running shoes and this is probably my 10th plus pair. Something is wrong with the right shoe at the tongue seam. I went for a run and thought it was just the new way the shoe fit but there has been no improvement no matter how I lace the shoe or slide the tongue. Te top seem digs into the top of my foot. It is very uncomfortable.

Comments about Adrenaline ASR 11 GTX:

I love the new Adrenaline GTS 15, but the new Adrenaline GTX 11 trail shoes are really uncomfortable. The tongue is sewn in and digs into the top of my feet, even if I loosen my laces. They're comfortable if they're really loose, but it defeats the purpose of providing arch support for my feet if my feet are flopping around in loose shoes and I certainly don't want to hike in shoes that aren't snug. I've had 3 other Adrenaline trail shoes and this by far fits the worse.
