Additional Information

A middle child to neutral and support, the Ravenna 4 is leading the charge for in-between feet. This season, this shoe is bringing a little more cushion, a bit more flex, and a whole lot of swagger with sleek design lines and fast colors. We've also honed in on midfoot capture and engineered a saddle that envelops the foot with an adjustable band. Not too Neutral and not too Support, the Ravenna 4 is juuuust right. Don’t take our word for it: Runner’s World® named the Ravenna 4 its "Best Buy" in the Spring Shoe Guide in the March 2013 issue. Their bottom line? "For the price, it’s awfully hard to beat this balance of features and ride."

I bought this shoe while training for the Boston Marathon. I am a mostly neutral runner who overpronates slightly. This shoe is PERFECT! Seriously the best training shoe ever. Fropm the first time I put it on I felt like I was gliding. I will definitely be keeping Ravenna's in my running shoe rotation. (I race in the Cadence and love them too!)

For years, I wore the Adrenaline but they started to cause issues so my shoe guy had me switch to the Ravenna 3. Straight out of the box, they were perfection! Of course, they were a tiny bit stiff the first week or two, but then they were awesome, as if they were made for me, and in fact, I was able to run about 12 miles a week in them for a year before they finally needed to be retired. I ran off to buy a replacement pair and got the Ravenna 4 -- totally different experience. They added more fabric strips across the outside of the shoe around where the big toe joint is to create more support on top. Well, it did -- now there's irritating tension right across my bunions. Sadly, I had to return the shoes because if I were to keep running in them, my bunions would only get worse over time. I don't understand why shoe companies keep changing the fit and feel of shoes when they have loyal customers -- why not keep the shoes the same and just make a new style of you want to change it that much! I'm so disappointed that not only are these not as good as the last iteration but I can't even wear your shoes anymore! For me, they are an absolute no-go. Bunion sufferers, beware!

  • Pronation Control
  • Stable

Cons

  • Heavy

Best Uses

While I will always love my Ghost 6's, and they provide a bit more 'pep' ot my step, these are a good alternative for long training runs and non-race days.

great shoe for slight over pronator

Cons

Love these shoes. I was running in the adrenalines and my knees did not respond well to the 13th edition. The Ravennas were perfect with just enough control and support for sllight over pronation.

I bought these to replace my well worn Nike Equalon's. I love the mesh and they aren't horribly ugly like some of the new shoes out there. They seemed comfortable, but after running in them for the last week, my feet and shins hurt. I do not think they have enough cushion for me. I may have to see about returning them. I'm so bummed.

I bought these shoes during the summer specifically for long runs. I was very pleased from the moment I completed my order, the beautiful arrival of that box outside of my door, and the first time my foot struck pavement.

This was my first time purchasing a pair of Brooks, and it has prompted me to stick to this company. I run 40+ miles a week, and these shoes have lasted through rain, sleet, (tears), and snow.

I strongly recommend these to anyone who enjoys distance running. The only drawback is that they tend to be on the heavier side. Otherwise, I run very happy in these!

I have problems with my feet (plantar f.) and my knee (runner's knee). I recently developed a pain in my hip when running. I changed to the Ravenna 4, and now I run with NO pain. No pain in my feet, knees, or hips. What a great shoe! I'm not sure which is better, the shoe itself or the great customer service I received from Brooks. I'm hooked on Brooks!
