Additional Information

A middle child to neutral and support, the Ravenna 4 is leading the charge for in-between feet. This season, this shoe is bringing a little more cushion, a bit more flex, and a whole lot of swagger with sleek design lines and fast colors. We've also honed in on midfoot capture and engineered a saddle that envelops the foot with an adjustable band. Not too Neutral and not too Support, the Ravenna 4 is juuuust right. Don’t take our word for it: Runner’s World® named the Ravenna 4 its "Best Buy" in the Spring Shoe Guide in the March 2013 issue. Their bottom line? "For the price, it’s awfully hard to beat this balance of features and ride."

Ravenna 4 is better than the Ravenna 3's but then again I ran in them once and threw them in the back of the closet. These shoes are still not as good as the 2's. Still a little too "high" feeling, the 2's seem to envelope over the top of your foot and you feel more secure. These are also more narrow in the toe box, feel a little unstable, and have given me some outside toe issues. I like the cushion in the fore foot and these are definitely an improvement from the 3's. Please just remake the Ravenna 2.

Having loved the Ravenna 3, when it came time to put a new pair into rotation I jumped on the Ravenna 4. Overall I like the shoe. As one who lands on the forefoot, so that is most noticeable, downside is the toes feel a bit cramped when running. Felt great trying on and testing in the store (a new pair of shoes always has a little less flex), used my usual buying tests, but after at least 5 miles, usually by 10 miles, the stiffness up front is wearing on my feet and am noticing the forefoot is feeling cramped. Have about 250 miles on these, will wear them out on shorter runs but the 3's are around 400 miles and am running long runs in them and will run them into my next marathon. Will buy Brooks again - love the product - but will probably be a different shoe in their lineup. Would love some wilder color combos as well folks!

So good I bought my Dad a pair!

About Me Casual/ Recreational

  • Lightweight

Cons

    Best Uses

    • Gym
    • Light running
    • Walking

Not too mushy, not too hard -- just right! Lightweight, breathable and very comfortable this shoe offers great support - I use it for walking the dog, elliptical and short jogs (2-3 miles, 3 or 4x/week). I've been searching and searching for a shoe just like this for years and was very happy that I finally found Brooks -again. I had Brooks in high school (25+ years ago) and am so happy with it. It really forms to your foot yet still offers a firm, solid support and guidance. I'm not one to spend $100 on shoes so when Brooks had these on sale I jumped on it and am very glad I did. In fact, they are so good I ordered a pair for my Dad and another pair for myself. These are GREAT shoes - if you have any foot issues, knee or hip pain from standing around or just walking it will disappear with these shoes. Obviously not a heavy runner (not my gig anymore) but this shoe 'dumbs down' and doesn't over-perform. I highly recommend these.

    Rotation Shoe

    • Good Traction
    • Looks Goodgo Packers
    • Yellow And Black Laces

    Cons

      Best Uses

      • Dry Weather
      • Endurance Training

      Age: 40s
      Run: Street
      Distance: 20 - 26 per week.
      Pronation: none
      Normal Shoe: Defyance
      Miles on this shoe: 17

This shoe wash purchased to have a rotation shoe to supplement my Defyance shoes (that I am well pleased with). The Revena does seem a touch heavier but is also softer. The Revena has good heel lock and arch support with just right amount of toe box. As a neutral runner these shoes seem to complement my gait and smooth out my run a little.

Conclusion: As long as the Ravenna wears well it will probably be my new primary shoe.

FYI: I have tried natural/minimalist running. Every joint and ligament hurt and not in, "I had a good workout" kinda way. Never again.

      Just bought my third pair

      Cons

        Best Uses

        • Dry Weather
        • Wet Weather

I originally started running a few years back with recommended neutral shoes, but once I wore those out I figured I try something with pronation control to reduce some leg pain/fatigue I was experiencing. I gave the Adrenaline a shot, but found there was too much support. I gave these a shot and haven't turned back since!

        Great shoe for under-pronaters

        By NCAA Runner

        from Indiana

        About Me Avid Athlete

        Pros

        • Durable
        • Good Arch Support
        • Good Traction

        • Uncomfortable

        Best Uses

        • Endurance Training
        • Trail Running

Hugs the middle of your foot (where your arch is), and has the flexibility to be highly responsive. I wouldn't call it a lightweight shoe, however it's not a heavy shoe. You can pile the mileage on to these bad boys. I run almost 70 miles per week, and trust me when I say they do NOT wear quickly. Provides no pronation support (Great shoe for under-pronaters (Pronaters should look at the Ravenna)). Buyers should know that this shoe is not comfortable. But I'll buy quality over comfort any day. I've worn the Defyance for years and will never switch.
