Additional Information

Experience the next best thing to naked feet with the hyper-light PureDrift. Spread those toes with two split grooves that allow your forefoot to flex through its three functional units. A hardly-there upper has a close fit and provides a little more coverage than a birthday suit. When you really want to feel free as a bird, remove the sockliner for a zero drop experience. Feet, meet feel.

Please note: The PureDrift was designed with a wider toe box than other Brooks shoes. If you prefer a more snug fit, size down half a size.

Just like our core line, we hold PureProject to the industry’s highest weartest and durability standards. Because of their lightweight construction and fewer materials, runners should generally expect shoes from the PureProject line to last approximately 250-300 miles.

My local running store recommended them to me. I spent the winter/spring season after my first marathon transitioning to them from the Adrenaline GTS. Major change in stride, leg strength and speed. The transition took time (5 months) but I saw increased speed and agility at each race. I didn't think they were built for marathons--but I've run two in them and feel great. I like the wider toe box, as it makes room for my expanding feet over long runs. If you're switching between road & trail, however, these are not the best shoes. You feel EVERYTHING. I can't imagine wearing anything else for my road training and racing. However, they are not for everyone, so please take your time in trying them. Can't wait for new colors!

There's no doubt that Brooks produces the highest quality running shoes. I love all my Brooks shoes and was excited for these. I ordered half a size down and I think the size was right, however the shoe is way too wide and boxy and left a strange baggy look in the toe area. Otherwise appears to be a super comfortable shoe. For someone with wider feet this may be the perfect she for you, I'll just have to try a different pair.

Comments about PureDrift:

I am on my 3rd pair of the PureDrift and training for the Boston Marathon. I ran two marathons last year in the Pure Drift and am very disappointed that they are discontinuing it as it's the perfect road shoe for someone who needs zero drop and wants the minimalist feel, but with just enough padding to run 26.2 miles.

    Comments about PureDrift:

Before giving this pair of Brooks a shot, I had been on the hunt for a minimalist shoe with a wide toe box that would allow my toes to breathe. I had run for quite some time in Vibram Five Fingers, but struggled with atrocious toe blisters after pushing past 4 miles. From there I moved onto the Nike Free Hyperfeel, which maintains the minimalist feel allowing the runner to remain on the forefoot, but the toe box was impossibly narrow. I really tried the Brooks PureDrift without expectation and was blown away at how well they fit my feet out of the box. I am so pleased with this shoe and proud to say I am a Brooks convert!

    Comments about PureDrift:

I got this shoe to replace my Merrell Road Gloves, which are lightweight and flexible but a bit narrow for my wide feet. PureDrift fits all the above requirements but when I tested them out on the treadmill, I got a hot spot on the ball of my big toe on both feet. I took out the liner thinking maybe the extra room would help, but it actually got worse. I finally replaced the original liner with a Merrell insole and I haven't had any issues yet, but I've only run 8 miles in them so far. I'll have to see how they do with the Merrell insole on a 13+ mile run.

      Comments about PureDrift:

I know it sounds crazy, but these shoes really did change my life. I used to be convinced that I would never run/jog (I'm overweight and always have been) but guess what, these shoes made it happen. This whole time it was my old shoes dragging me down!!! I'm now able to jog/walk without feeling like I'd rather be at home sitting on the couch. Puredrift are feather light and give my wide feet all the room they need. I have replaced the insole with one that has more arch support and these are my favorite shoes. I have bought them in very color and I hope this line continues. I'm not an athlete, but I do know no other shoe can even come close to these! Buy them, you won't regret it!

      Comments about PureDrift:

I wanted to use these shoes on my short runs but I am afraid I need more support and cushioning. The ball of my feet burn within the first mile. I found it great for leisure walks. For running I will stick with Ghosts or Glycerin.

These are my favorite half marathon shoes, and in a few days, I will wear them for a full marathon. They have enough cushioning to go the distance, but are lightweight enough and flexible enough to let me fly. The lumpy laces always stay tied. Love these shoes.

      Comments about PureDrift:

After searching for months for minimal shoes that really fit my wide feet, I've finally found the solution--as long as the insoles are out. I bought the PureDrift after reading about the wide toebox and am so glad I did!

When I first received the shoes (I bought online), I took them to the gym and did a few miles on the treadmill (I live in a cold state). It was terrible! The insole was very uncomfortable and I had hotspots under both my big toes. Two days later, I took the insole out. This improved the feel 100%. The shoe doesn't squeeze my feet at all and everything felt so light.

I've been running on 4- and 3mm drops for a while now, and switching to 0 wasn't that difficult. If you are new to lighter shoes, I definitely would buy a shoe that's comfortable with the insole in! I also wouldn't suggest buying these strictly for gym running--I plan on taking them outside as soon as it gets warm enough.

Overall, great minimal shoe. I can't wait to take these outside--and I really hope Brooks keeps making the PureDrift.

I ordered these because of the large toe box reviews. But it angles off too much for me, I basically need a square toe box and so far only Alta makes one. But I am a fan of Brooks quality.

            Comments about PureDrift:

In general I like this shoe. Its cushioned enough to absorb some impact but is definitely a zero drop shoe (with the insole out of course). The only down sides are that the sole of the shoe is NOT waterproof so if you step on wet ground, your foot is going to get wet. Not talking about big puddles and splashing; the water comes up through the bottom. Also, with the insole out, the cut outs for the ankle bones feels slightly high. Both are manageable concerns, but something that maybe in later models could be addressed.
