Over hill, over dale, when you hit the dusty trail, hit it in the new Cascadia 10 men's trail-running shoe. Built with a 4-point pivot posting system that provides increased flexibility and adaptability on tricky terrain, and a ballistic rock shield which sounds awesome and is awesome when it comes to protecting your foot from trail hazards. The full-length, segmented crash pad allows for ideal ground contact from foot-strike to toe-off and the adaptive BioMoGo DNA midsole gives you custom cushioning. Conformable saddle construction in the upper, plus moisture management fabric and hydrophobic foam all come together to create a rugged, comfortable, lightweight trail running super-shoe.

Please note: The Cascadia is designed as a trail running shoe. While a lot of people love it as a fastpacking and thru-hiking shoe while carrying ultralight gear; the Cascadia is not pack-rated and may not hold up to the extra weight and demands of long pack hikes. We’re your go-to option for trail runs, but a sturdy hiking boot may be better suited for heavy packs.

DNA Midsole

What is it?

Brooks DNA is an innovative and uniquely adaptive cushioning system. By adapting to your specific weight, pace, gait and running surface, DNA offers customized cushioning and adds a spring to your step.

Traditional cushioning takes a one-size-fits-all approach, but we know that each runner is different. Brooks DNA was developed to continuously tailor the level of cushioning to your specific needs – even as they change during the run.

How does it work?

Brooks DNA is made up of a highly viscous non-Newtonian material or more simply put, a material that adapts to the specific force you apply to it. Part of the brilliance is that this compound was engineered to perform at the molecular level (picture millions of resilient 'nanosprings').

If you looked at Brooks DNA through a microscope, you'd see that it's made up of individual molecules connected in strands. These strands (which form chains) react to the amount of force placed on the foot, dispersing pressure and providing resiliency. Bottom line of this physics lesson: You get tailored cushioning that reacts to your specific weight, pace, gait, movement and running environment – "made-for-me" cushioning vs. "one size fits all."

And, as with all good technology, we’ve taken it a step further (two steps actually):

  • BioMoGo DNA is DNA technology blended with the BioMoGo midsole to provide adaptive cushioning throughout the midsole vs. just in the heel and forefoot.
  • BioMoGo DNA midsole includes an organic, non-toxic additive that biodegrades the midsole 50 times faster than traditional EVA when it comes into contact with anaerobic landfill microbes (otherwise known as active, enclosed landfills).

  • 30% more cushioning than standard midsole materials (gel or EVA)
  • Twice as much energy return for more pep in your step
  • Great performance no matter your weight or running pace
  • Smoother transition from heel to toe

I run on rocky trails, on the Ventoux-trails, 40 - 80 kilometers per week, sometimes on road. This shoe is getting better and better, because it's now lighter; more responsive with the same qualities like in the past iterations. It's nice and I bought 2 pairs. I'll run the trail season with them. No default…You did a great job at Brooks ! It's going to be too easy to reach the finishing line ;) A French trail-runner (Cascadia's owner of the first, 2d, 4th, 6th and8th editions)

I am avid runner (50-60 miles per week) and I spend about half of my time on trails. I was very intrigued with the new technologies and updates on the Cascadia 10, and once I tried them on, I was sold. Unfortunately, these shoes are not good at all if the trails are remotely wet. I have found myself slipping on rocks and roots when the trails are damp, and if you encounter even the slightest bit of mud, the soles on this shoe become a suction-cup whereby I have to stop every 2-3 minutes to knock the mud off the bottom of my shoes. Also, the soles attract so much mud that the added weight to the shoes can cause some added strain to the hamstrings. In summary, these shoes are great for dry conditions, but they are not good at all for damp to wet conditions.

        Comments about Cascadia 10:

Great shoe, awesome traction and fits true to size. Well built and appears to be very durable . . . time will tell. Only issue is with the shoe laces as they are a hair too short and require double tying if they are not to come undone. I HATE untied shoelaces, it's an issue with me. Otherwise, rad shoe.

                    Comments about Cascadia 10:

I put Brooks Cascadia 10 on one foot, size 12.5, and Brooks Puregrit 3 on the other foot, size 12. They felt the exact same on either foot. I have very narrow feet, so that may account for it. For casual shoes, I wear a size 13.

                      Comments about Cascadia 10:

Currently using to train for a local 12k race. I am 56 years old, twenty pounds overweight, and still recovering from a double dose of plantars faciitis caused by running over a thousand miles in a year on had surfaces. My feet are flat, a heavy supinator. I am now doing the bulk of my training off-road. The Cascadias seem to fit the bill, so far.
