My father always told me, "There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad gear."

I live in Chicago and am an outdoor runner 365 days out of the year. This requires nothing short of the best cold/wet weather gear in the winter months. These shoes are the perfect example of great gear. They have been amazing in the crazy winter we have had. Rain, snow, slush, ice... none of it has stood a chance. I average about 30 miles a week and even on long runs in wet conditions my feet have stayed dry and comfortable.

I have crazy high arches and the arch support was also fantastic. They do feel a bit stiff at first, but break in very quickly. I normally wear a size 8 1/2, but found that a 9 in these shoes fit me the best.

My only complaint is that they started to wear out (in the arch support area) just before I hit the 300 mile mark, thus the 4/5 star review. This seems to be a typical mileage for all shoes these days, but I was really hoping these would last a bit longer, since they feel so substantial, and take me through my next Half Marathon on 3/16 and the rest of March.

The bottom line is: I loved them enough to order another pair today!

I have to say that I'm not pleased with this shoe. I will be sending it back to you, but want you to know why. The tongue on the shoe keeps bunching up on me (both feet)and hurts the top of my feet. Perhaps its because this shoe is gore-tex and the fabric is stiff. I did not try to run in them, just seemed too uncomfortable.

        Comments about Ghost GTX:

I was looking to replace a pair of Flow 1 running shoes. I like the Brooks brand. The brand usually treats me well. I went to the Ghost because it is a very popular shoe and most people like it. Since the weather is changing I thought I'd try the gore tex. I've run a few times in the shoe and they seem to be comfortable. Wide enough toe box, nice cushion.

I teach a cardio kickboxing class up to five times a week. I wouldn't even consider doing it without Ghosts on my feet. I'm on my fifth pair.

              Comments about Ghost GTX:

Bought them for the rainy cold runs and the shoes keep my feet dry as advertised. Exactly what I hoped. Not as cushioned as I had hoped. I wear them for jogging and 5k races when the weather determines the need.
