Additional Information

The Brooks Vantage hit the ground running in 1976 and was the first shoe for the brand to win the prestigious Runner's World 5-Star Award. This historical running shoe featured the patented Brooks Varus Wedge and was available in widths lending itself to runners of all types and varieties. This bring-back classic features a Nubuck leather upper coupled with supple, breathable mesh and features a beautifully crafted handbag leather Chevron and heel tab.

Please note: The Vantage pays tribute to its original design, but this modern refresh is not a performance running shoe. As everyday kicks, you may wish to choose a half size smaller than your Brooks running shoes.

    Comments about Vantage:

I'll second the guy up thread. Do not wear these in the rain (or even out in the yard if there is heavy dew), especially if you got a pair of blue ones. I now have a couple of pairs of white socks with blue toes when before I just had white socks. I don't think that Brooks charges extra for that.

These are also narrower than the last version of this shoe. I have a pair of the old Vantages and they are cut so that they feel more stable and are wider than this version.

For walking and hanging around (if you don't get wet) these are ok, but not as good as the old version.

I would recommend these, but with the warnings I've mentioned.

    Comments about Vantage:

I will preface this review by saying I have purchased at least a dozen pairs of Brooks shoes over the years, mostly Adrenaline GTS (from 5th edition all the way through 14th) and almost all of my running apparel is Brooks.

I purchased these shoes to wear with scrubs in a medical clinic and casually around town. I have been very happy with them, especially since they are comfortable and lightweight and I spend a lot of time on my feet during the day. They also look great in almost any casual setting.

Usually I wear them in dry weather, however I got caught in the rain recently and discovered that the blue dye used on the upper portion of the shoe bleeds significantly when wet. When I got home and took my shoes off I noticed that the white laces were now stained blue and my white socks were also now stained bright blue. Not only that, but the blue dye also stained the skin on my feet and my toenails. It has been three days now and my toenails are still blue. I think the dye stained the bed under my nails, so they will be this color until the nails grow out. Maybe this was the Brooks "True Blue Guarantee".

I know these shoes aren't intended to be all-weather all-stars, but buyer beware if you get caught in any wet weather. I would still recommend them due to the fit, comfort, and trendiness of the shoes, but just be aware of their shortcomings.

        Comments about Vantage:

Obviously this shoe isn't meant to be a modern running shoe. I bought these shoes as normal, everyday tennis shoes since they looked super fly (in my humble opinion). I was a little nervous on how they would actually feel, but when I got them and put them on, it was a match made in heaven. The shoes perfectly conform to my feet and work great for walking. The top of the shoe fits like my running spikes, it almost feels like a pair of socks, and the bottom has a good amount of cushion and support. I wear these when I'm just relaxing instead of my moccasins now because they are so comfortable. I do recommend buying a half size smaller than your normal shoe size as the site suggests. I am normally a size 12 but I bought a size 11.5 and the fit great.
