I have owned 47 pairs of Adrenalines, yes, I don't like change and stick with what works ;)
However, I saw the bright pink color and read about the cushioning of the Transcends and decided to bite the bullet and try a change from my trusty Adrenalines. I love these shoes. I don't want to jinx myself but my last three long runs (16.5, 18 miles) were markedly faster. The only difference I can report is the shoes. I would recommend to give these shoes a try. I am not a pronator but do like supportive shoes as I am bowlegged and have weak knees. These shoes were great for my knees. Just a note for narrow (AA) wearers, they didn't have these in the narrow but I have not noticed a problem with the regular width. I just tie my laces differently so they will be tight enough on my skinny ankles.

I used to run in adrenalines, but needed more cushion. When I found the Trance I was sold. I was disappointed to hear it was discontinued. I thought I'd give the Transcend a go. Unfortunately this is not a good replacement. They're very stiff and aggravate my Achilles. The toe box seems more narrow. I wanted to stick with Brooks for my running shoes, but cannot. They do not offer any other supportive high cushioned shoe. Sorry Brooks, please bring back the Trance!

Just Okay

By Disappointed Brooks Owner

from Hamilton OH

About Me Avid Athlete

Pros

  • Durable
  • Good Traction
  • Lightweight
  • Pronation Control

Cons

  • Poor Cushioning
  • Too Stiff
  • Uncomfortable

Best Uses

  • Endurance Training

Comments about Transcend:

I settled with these after trying out 5 different pair of running sneakers, but I wish I would have continued looking. I originally had the Adrenaline GTS 12 and LOVED them. The following series shoes didn't fit or feel the same. According to the running store, the Transcend was supposed to be a close second. In the half-marathon I trained for, my toes went numb in these shoes and I can't seem to get the laces to stay put and so they tighten toward the top of my foot. I'm disappointed given the amount I paid for the shoe, and I am also discouraged about finding a pair that work like the Adrenaline did.

Good, not great

Pros

  • Pronation Control

Cons

  • Poor Cushioning
  • Too Stiff
  • Uncomfortable

Best Uses

  • Gym

Comments about Transcend:

I like these shoes, but they aren't "like running on a cloud" or however the marketing describes them. They are harder and more stiff than my Brooks Ravennas which surprised me. The first run I got sore shins, but was fine for the next three. I don't feel like going through the hassle of returning them, but I probably won't buy again.

The Magic Shoe

By JW

  • Pronation Control

      Comments about Transcend:

This shoe is truly in a class of its own. It is extremely durable with long-lasting and superb support and cushion, allowing me to run uphill every single day without any pain *at all* which is a miracle for me.

I have struggled for years with painful, running-induced shin splints, knee problems and plantar fasciitis. As a result, I have usually only been able to run regularly for a few weeks or months at a time, while frequently experiencing pain, before having to give up running altogether for months or even years due to various injuries. After debilitating injuries, a sports therapist I saw years ago told me I was never going to run again. I was utterly crushed.

All of that has disappeared with this one magic shoe. I so wish I had always run in this shoe, because now it has made running completely blissful, sustainable, and healthy for my body—running now is all pros and no cons.

I urge Brooks to always always always sell this shoe and never change a thing about it!!!

      Comments about Transcend:

Brooks bring back the Trance!!!!!!! I loved my Trance's right out of the box, so was disappointed when they were discontinued. I decided to try the Transcend. I do love the stability they offer and they are comfortable! I would recommend them for lifting and weight training. I've tried to run in them and they give me a blister on my little toe. The toe box seems narrow compared to the rest of the shoe. I tried to love them, but they missed the mark. I'll keep them for lifting & the gym, but will have to find a different running/stability shoe.

These shoes have the perfect balance of cushioning and springiness which makes them wonderful for long runs. They're a little tight in the toe box, so try a half size up. Great shoes!
