I have never reviewed a shoe online, but I feel compelled to provide some feedback on the Transcend for those who may be on the fence - as the Transcend is a new model, and it's about $160.

I am a 34 year old male, 5'10" 185lbs. In my late twenties, I was running 5K and 10K road races at about an 8 minute/mile pace. Plantar fasciitis set in and took me out of the game completely. I quit running for a full three years. A chiropractor friend of mine suggested that I modify my natural stride (big time heel striker) and try running on my toes. At about that same time, I received a pair of Adrenaline GTS 14s as a gift. Gradually, I have re-learned to run on my toes, and the Adrenalines were a critical tool in that process. However, as it still feels very unnatural for me to toe strike, I find that with the Adrenalines, I have to consciously focus on every stride in order to get my foot flat on the ground. Also, the Adrenalines did not offer the cushiony ride I found myself wanting.

Enter the Transcends.

These shoes are incredible. I knew within the first tenth of a mile on my first run that they were exactly what I needed. They provide a super soft ride. I find that with the soft DNA forefoot, my feet are less tired after a run. Also, and this is probably my favorite part, it's like the shoes do the thinking for me and place my feet on the ground properly. I still have to remind myself to be a toe striker, but it just feels so much more natural and easy with the Transcends. I could not be any happier with a pair of shoes. I'm still not back to my top form. But I'm now able to run 12 - 15 miles per week (Which, those of you with plantar fasciitis will know, is a beautiful thing!)
If you are like me, and you have finicky or weak arches, or if you just have a heavier stride in general, I would strongly suggest that you try the Transcends. I will definitely buy another pair. And I really hope that Brooks sticks with this model.
One last thing - I read/watched some of the reviews before buying, and saw a runner's magazine that knocked the Trancends as being a bit too heavy. I have not found that to be a problem, or even to be an accurate comment. They don't seem any heavier than the Adrenalines, at least not to me.

The heel to toe drop on this shoe is ideal for me. The cushioning feels very good (I'm a 230 lb runner). Lacing is comfortable, toe box wide enough, weight is fine. My main problem with this shoe is that the material used to trim the upper portion of the shoe near the toes is very firm/hard. Where my foot bends, right near the toes, the firm material bends inward and pushes into my foot and is very uncomfortable after about 3 miles. I want to return these shoes, but not sure the store will take them back. They may just end up being a short distance shoe, but I had high hopes they would become my distance trainer.

Ok replacement of the Trance, but needs

    Comments about Transcend:

I was a loyal Trance consumer. Loved the shoe and was sorry to see it phased out. Ran pain free for 5 years. The Transcend is a good shoe design-wise. However it isn't as stable as the Trance, and perhaps more importantly, the sole especially at the front of the shoe has worn out very quickly.

    Comments about Transcend:

I'm an avid runner, averaging 25-30 miles a week during off season. The shoe is comfortable and light. I have low arches but this shoes has enough support to help me. The wear on the shoe is bad. I had the shoes for about 2 months when I started to notice tearing and rips on the top of the shoe. I mainly run on paved roads. For being such an expensive shoe you figured it would have better durability. The shoe definitely needs improvements.

    Comments about Transcend:

Run 4 miles a day.. I am 6'4 210 pounds with a high arch... The shoes are comfortable. I will say order a ½ size bigger. They run small. I would also like to see better orthopedics... I spent another $60 for new inserts... That makes this shoe little expensive.. I usually burn out a shoe in about 4 months...

    I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SHOE

      Comments about Transcend:

I started with the Trance then the Adrenaline 13 and liked the 13. Had issues with the Adrenaline 14 so I bought 4 pair of the 13's online. Those now have worn out and someone at Grandmas marathon expo suggested the new Transcend. I take a 2E width so was hesitant since Transcend has no 2E width available but after a half dozen runs and the shoes now broke in I proclaim these the absolute best shoes I have ever owned (and I've tried many just ask my wife). The reason I can say that is my legs do not even feel like I've even gone for a run when I'm done. These shoes lessen the impact dramatically for me. I'm a 59 yr old male and run 40-50 miles per week and am very very excited to have these shoes. Thank You Brooks!!!!

      Terrible Choice For Me.

        Comments about Transcend:

Dropped the $160 for these shoes after reading the reviews and returned them a few days after I got them. This shoe has a very high arch that pushes up causing those with flat feet to overpronate, but because of the rigid stability control your foot is not allowed to adjust. I was in unbearable pain after walking in them for 15 minutes. There isn't much in the way of cushion, and this is definitely a running shoe. The fit is extremely tight around the foot, uncomfortably so. I'll echo the other review saying the material over the toe is so rigid that it pushes down on your toes every time you take a step and consequently cause you to strike flat-footed while running (shin splints, anyone?).

These no kidding felt like I was wearing cement blocks on my feet, and unless you have the most generic-shaped foot humanity has to offer I can't imagine this being of any use to anyone else.
