Additional Information

Live large with the luxurious ride of the Trance 12. This shoe has a taste for the finer technologies in life, like a Segmented Crash Pad that articulates the midsole for a perfectly smooth heel-to-toe transition. We moved the heel counter to the outside of the shoe for even more interior comfort, plus built-in bootie-like design for a silky feel. This shoe is so plush that, pretty soon, it will be on an episode of MTv® Cribs.

I have been running consistently for 3 years now and have tried various shoes and the Trance 12 has been the best so far, great feel, super sturdy and supportive and at a good price point for what I needed. I will be running my first half marathon in Feb 2013 and I am looking forward to how they will feel for that distance in colder weather.

I wore the Adrenaline 12s last year and loved them. Went through 4 pairs with each one lasting about 650-700K. I overpronate, and slightly more with my right foot than left. The adrenaline 12s would break down on the back right heel after those hundreds of km's. I tried the Adrenaline 13s and went through the heel after only 120K! At the Boston Marathon Expo I spoke to the Brooks staff who suggested the Trance 12s. They are comfortable out of the box and you can feel they have more cushioning than the Adrenaline's. however, the Trance's broke down completely after 80K! I haven't changed how I run, but instead, I believe Brooks has changed the rubber on their soles, meaning they are softer now. There is no way shoes should be breaking down after a week of running!! I complained to Brooks and kudos to them they are giving me a new pair. However, I know it's just going to break down quickly. Hoping the Adrenaline 14s go back to the old rubber/soles or else I'll be switching shoe companies. In the meantime, I'm searching the web for Adrenaline 12s!!

Very Sorry for the End of the Line

About Me Avid Athlete

Pros

  • Comfortable

Cons

I am very sorry that the Trance line has ended. I've trained for and run a dozen half marathons in them and have no desire to find another shoe, so I'll be buying several pairs before they disappear for good.

        Review from a woman: men's trance 12

I am a female who bought the men's version because they do not carry the trance 12 in woman's wide. That having been said, they are very comfortable and supportive! I run 4 times a week and am training for a 1/2 marathon. I overpronate very slightly and have a normal arch. They feel quite stable without loosing the cushioned feeling that I like. I am new to Brooks brand and have been a New Balance wearer until now. My only minor complaint is that they are a tad bit heavy feeling. If these hold up I will definitely be back for more Brooks!

Thank you!!! I have had knee problems for the last two years and being in the military it is hard not too run. After going through GATES testing I was told what shoes I should be running in and what brands are out there. I was told to get Brooks, a decision I do not regret. I started using these two months ago and my run times are coming down really fast. My knees don't hurt nearly as much. Again thank you!!! Maybe you could offer some other colors?

I used to run only in the Adrenaline model. I decided to give the Trance a try this year and am extremely happy I made the switch. I use an arch support orthotic and it works well with the Trance. I've been very happy with the wear and tear as I've trained for my Ironman race this year as well. If you like the Adrenaline, you might give the Trance a run and see if you feel the same way. I felt it was worth the upgrade.

I have run with the Asics Kayano 18 and 19 over the last few years but I was in my local running shop for a look around the other day and decided to simply ask for a shoe that is a bit different but similar. They said the only brand that would offer anything like the Asics is Brooks. I tried on the Brooks Trance 12 for a few mins. but let it go back and went home. I had a good think about the shoe and researched it that evening. I decided to go back the next day, purchase a pair and give them a real good test run. I was so, so surprised, unbelievable differnce to the Kayano, so much better, real support! The shoe fits better and cushions so much better. It feels like I am gliding, I cannot put it in words, trying is believing, be it expensive but a great experience. All I want now is Brooks, they are so underestimated but are so so good! So glad I tried them.

expensive, but last pair held up to 700miles under a 250lb body on the trail. did not crush outward like most shoes do with my underpronating stride. this pair will take me through the 100mi event in oct. thanks, brooks.

6'0 170lb competitive runner (normally 50 miles per week on mostly roads but long runs on trails/mixed). Needed a high-mileage trainer with good cushion and stability. I loved running in this shoe but the shoe started to fail around 330 miles, which, I would consider to be below standard for this type of price point. Was really hoping to get AT LEAST 400 miles. I would still recommend this shoe to friends. 4/5 stars for cost/durability.

I've been searching for a shoe that can support my low arch and bum left ankle. I had worn the Asics Kayanos 16-19 and the Saucony Hurricanes 13-14, but this shoe right here is the absolute best in that it has excellent forefoot cushioning and has just the right amount of support as to not overcorrect the overpronation. Right out of the box went on a 3 mile run with no ankle or arch pain. Brooks Trance 12 are extremely impressive.
