Additional Information

Live large with the luxurious ride of the Trance 12. This shoe has a taste for the finer technologies in life, like a Segmented Crash Pad that articulates the midsole for a perfectly smooth heel-to-toe transition. We moved the heel counter to the outside of the shoe for even more interior comfort, plus built-in bootie-like design for a silky feel. This shoe is so plush that, pretty soon, it will be on an episode of MTv® Cribs.

I have been running consistently for 3 years now and have tried various shoes and the Trance 12 has been the best so far, great feel, super sturdy and supportive and at a good price point for what I needed. I will be running my first half marathon in Feb 2013 and I am looking forward to how they will feel for that distance in colder weather.

I wore the Adrenaline 12s last year and loved them. Went through 4 pairs with each one lasting about 650-700K. I overpronate, and slightly more with my right foot than left. The adrenaline 12s would break down on the back right heel after those hundreds of km's. I tried the Adrenaline 13s and went through the heel after only 120K! At the Boston Marathon Expo I spoke to the Brooks staff who suggested the Trance 12s. They are comfortable out of the box and you can feel they have more cushioning than the Adrenaline's. however, the Trance's broke down completely after 80K! I haven't changed how I run, but instead, I believe Brooks has changed the rubber on their soles, meaning they are softer now. There is no way shoes should be breaking down after a week of running!! I complained to Brooks and kudos to them they are giving me a new pair. However, I know it's just going to break down quickly. Hoping the Adrenaline 14s go back to the old rubber/soles or else I'll be switching shoe companies. In the meantime, I'm searching the web for Adrenaline 12s!!

    Comments about Trance 12:

I really liked the Trance 10 but was unable to find a 10 to purchase so tried the new Trance 12. I did not like the design changes from the 10 to the 12 - toe box much narrower and less rounded, over all a narrower fit. Basically a totally differently designed and fitting shoe. It did not work for my foot. I would recommend it as it may fit another person's foot just fine.

Brooks Trance 12 almost a perfect shoe!

    Comments about Trance 12:

The Brooks Trance 12 is almost a perfect running shoe. I've been running "short" (5 miles or less)distances in the Adrenaline GTS's for years but needed something with more cushioning for longer runs (I'm 6' tall 190 lbs). I tried Asics Gel Kayano 17's and they were great until they changed the design and now feels like little to no pronation control. I took a chance with the Brooks Trance 12 and they are awesome! After 8 miles it only feels like I have run 3, 13 miles, no problem, still comfy with just the right amount of pronation control. Speed, right on, jump from a 8 min pace to a 6:38 pace with no squishy feel. Very responsive, like stepping on the gas pedal of a corvette with the comfy ride of a cadillac. Feels pretty light considering the typ of shoe it is. Only nitch is the heal cup is a little big and the toe box a bit too roomy (my toes get a little sore from the freedom). I like the the snugger feel of the Adrenaline GTS. All in all, I love the Trance 12, but if Brooks were to put the Adrenaline GTS's upper on the Trance 12 foot bed it WOULD BE THE ABSOLUTE PERFECT SHOE!! I wish they could do this for me, it would be the only shoe I would buy. Ever. Until then, the Trance 12 will be my go to shoe... as long as I can still purchase. I give it 4 1/2 Stars. Very very sad to see it on the "Endangered Shoe" list. I would absolutely highly recommend this shoe!

I mostly run on asphalt. These shoes make the run feel like I'm on sand. They cushion more effectively than any other shoe I've owned and make the run energetic from beginning to end.

I am very sorry that the Trance line has ended. I've trained for and run a dozen half marathons in them and have no desire to find another shoe, so I'll be buying several pairs before they disappear for good.
