    I run 15-25 miles a week.
In the past 3 years I ran in the Brooks Adrenaline, which was great shoe. Just never felt the connection. I then ran in the Pure Cadence for my faster shorter runs and those were great, just seem to give out quickly. I love the Brooks brand what it stands for, but I wanted to try a different brand. I went with the Mizuno Wave Inspire, I forced myself to run in this shoe and I just never enjoyed it. This was when I went to Runners World shoe selector on their website. It suggested the Ravenna and I am so happy with this shoe. for the 15 years I have been running this was the first shoe that I fell in love with the second I laced them up and stood up from the couch.

      Comments about Ravenna 5:

Prior to buying a pair of Ravenna 5's, I ran in the ASICS Gel-Kayano 16, 20, ASICS GT-2150, GT-2170, GT-2000 2, Saucony Kinvara 4, and Saucony Guide 5,6, and 7. Out of all of these shoes, I had an orange and black pair of Saucony Guide 6's that lasted me a very long time and I was so pleased with the way they looked, performed, and felt. After running in the Guide 7's, I was a bit disappointed; they felt heavy and clunky even though it's one of the lightest shoes on the market.

Mizuno is a great brand and no disrespect to them, but the Inspire 10 didn't feel great on my foot. When I tried on the Ravenna 5, I fell instantly in love. It gave me the perfect amount of support but it felt lighter than the Guide 7, even though the latter is lighter.

Along with the moderate amount of control you get in the Ravenna 5, you also get an upper which is breathable and fits perfectly with the strap that connects to the midsole of the shoe. Additionally, the middle of the shoe makes a lot of contact with the ground because of the shrinkage of the midfoot shank, which really was pleasing because I am a midfoot striker with flat feet. I also really enjoyed the forefoot of the shoe; it has a flexible forefoot thanks to the Omega Flex Grooves, you get boatloads of traction, which is awesome because you can run on the trails without slipping, and because the forefoot is curved up a bit more than the Guide 7, you also get a fast feel in the shoe during toe off, which helps on faster runs and speed work.

I know for certain that when my time is over in my current Ravenna 5's, I'm going to get another pair. Thank you Brooks for making such an outstanding shoe. Run happy!

        Comments about Ravenna 5:

These shoes might have become my favorite pair after just 35 miles. They are very light weight, but don't lack in cushioning. You can feel the stability in them, but they don't feel stiff.

I bought these because I'm running about 30-35 miles per week and I wanted to start rotating my shoes. I have the Ghost 6 and Ghost 7 I am also using and wanted to mix it up and get a shoe with a little more stability. I was kind of worried they might feel to stiff or bulky...nope, not at all. They are AWESOME!!!

The only downside I've ever come across with any of my Brooks is that I don't get a ton of mileage out of them (225-250). However, the fact that I'm sure my running technique is horrible, I'm 6'5 & 235lbs, and I only run on streets/sidewalks are all probably working against the shoes. It too early to tell if the Ravena's will be any different anyways.

Overall, it really is a great shoe that I would recommend to anybody. Brooks hasn't let me down yet.

          Comments about Ravenna 5:

It is possible that I have reviewed this shoe already. If so, it is just a testament to how great the shoe truly is!
Those who have followed the Ravenna line from day 1 know that the Ravenna 2 was a rock-solid shoe. The Ravenna 5 has trumped them all. When it comes to running the heavy mileage and wanting a shoe that will last, provide support, and still give a little pep, this is it.
I wear it for all my mileage, running 100+ miles/week. It is great for the easy short runs and the longer and faster runs. The shoe handles wet and icy pavement as well as any and is good on trails and dirt, too.

            Comments about Ravenna 5:

I have run in the Ravenna's in the past. I was a big fan of the 2's. Had several pairs and ran my first marathon in them. I purchased the 3's and did not care for them. I did not purchase the 4's but returned for the 5's. I am happy to report the Ravenna is back! They feel quick, light and mold to the foot like the 2's. The cushion in this model is much better than I remember in the 2's, big bonus.

I am 6' 2", 195 and run about 35-40 miles per week. I logged my longest weekly run of 13 miles in them and my feet and legs felt fresh afterward. I will be running NYC in November most likely in the Ravenna 5's.

A side note I have always worn an 11.5 in Brooks (many pairs) I had to go to a 12 in this model.

              Comments about Ravenna 5:

Currently running 15-20 miles per week in Ravenna 5 shoes. Soft cushioned ride is nice. I wore Adrenalines for about 3 years. This shoe feels more cushsioned and less supportinve. This shoe is about 1/2 size bigger which means it is truer to size. Toe box is pretty roomy. I have done some light trail running in these. No problems.
