Additional Information

Free your feet and embrace the trail with the PureGrit. Working with ultramarathoner Scott Jurek, we developed a unique one-piece outsole that has a concave shape. When forces are applied, the piece splays out to provide a more balanced lay-down. A sleek grip lug pattern and wide base protect the feet but still allow the runner to get in touch with the ground. Top it off with an ultralight mesh and conforming foam upper for a fit that really hugs the foot.

Just like our core line, we hold PureProject to the industry’s highest weartest and durability standards. Because of their lightweight construction and fewer materials, runners should generally expect shoes from the PureProject line to last approximately 250-300 miles.

Love these shoes. Wore them yesterday for a 50k trail race with rocky, gravely, technical, smooth, soft, muddy, frosty, grassy, and dusty trails with big climbs and big descents.

Highlights:
1. Lightweight without feeling like you have less shoe. A lot of the other lightweight trail shoes are so little shoe that you have to tip-toe around some of the rocky, rooty, gnarlier sections of more technical trails. Don't worry about that with the PureGrit; you'll have confidence to attack the trail.

2. Ideal Heel. The biggest surprise was the Ideal Heel. It was really noticeable on some of my technical descents when I felt like I had more control over my foot strike. It seemed to allow a much smoother, fluid contact with the ground.

3. Comfort. Fit like a glove.

Considerations:
1. Navband. My foot must be a little narrow because after tightening up the laces the navband had some slack in it. Not sure if it's doing anything to give me a snug fit.

Wonderful foot fitting.
I attend school in Colorado and the paths are impossible to take in the ice and snow. Walking in wet parking lots is also sketchy, probably because of the oil mixture. I didn't get a chance to run on trails before the edges wore off from casual walks on the sidewalk, but they did disappear within a couple weeks. The comfort, support style, and fitting sold me, but the things above would have me wait until next edition to refer to a friend.
Work on it and I'll buy 'em Brooks!

Almost perfect

Pros

  • Cushions Impact
  • Lightweight

Cons

  • Bad traction on wet rock
  • I Dont Like The Insole
  • Little Downhill Traction
  • Not Much Side Traction

Best Uses

  • Dry Weather
  • Endurance Training
  • Trail Running

So far I used this about 20 miles on the road and 20 mile in Bear Mountain this past week. The insole a little too much and bouncy, I ended up take it out and get a very thin insole. I like it since it s light, yet it has a good protection when I do technical trail running and long run. Tho, the traction is very minimun, specially on down hill, slippery/wet rocks, or speed maneuvering. The top rubber for the snug feature, it does not work anymore since I took out the insole, but it works as my shoe leashes pockets. Oh also its mesh is really comfortable.

  • Responsive

Cons

  • Poor Traction
  • Traction Not The Best

Best Uses

Only cons about the Puregrit is the traction. Best on flat surfaces. Traction is good on trails too, just not wet surfaces. The original Puregrit is much better than the Puregrit 2.

This is the best fitting shoe I have ever worn in 30 years of running. My second pair of the Pure Grit. Wanted the new Pure Grit 2 but they seem to be to narrow for me.

Great Trail Shoe

About Me Avid Athlete

Pros

  • Comfortable
  • Cushions Impact
  • Good Arch Support
  • Good Traction
  • Lightweight
  • Responsive

Cons

    Best Uses

    • Trail Running

This is my favorite shoe. Light weight, responsive, cushions impact and incredibly lightweight. I use them on trail runs of all distances. The only time I do not run in my Pure Grit is when running on a technical trail with sharp rocks and then I use my Brooks Cascadia.
